Singapore’s best shopping malls: Central
313@somerset
313@somerset is a centrally-located shopping mall in Singapore, made easily accessible thanks to its location right above Somerset MRT station on the North South Line. Here you’ll find Arabica for highly raved iced coffee, Limited Edt which carries limited edition sneakers and sports merch for sneakerheads, Smiggle, Zara and more. On the Sky Terrace next to Food Republic (level 5) sits a small alfresco (covered) free playground best for tiny tots to keep busy while mama grabs a bite to eat. The nursing rooms at 313 Somerset are available at B3, Level 1 and Level 5.

Capitol Singapore
Home to Capitol Theatre, Eden Residences and The Capitol Kempinski, Capitol Singapore in City Hall is an iconic building that has been recently refurbished. At this mall you’ll find a number of shops, cafes and restaurants like Kai En Sushi and Café Kitsuné. Capitol Singapore mall is right across the road from National Gallery Singapore and is in close proximity to CHIJMES.

City Square Mall


City Square Mall is located in Serangoon with Little India nearby, and is directly connected to Farrer Park MRT station on the North East Line. There are three playgrounds located at this eco-friendly shopping mall in Singapore, with plenty of play options for big kids and little ones. There’s the outdoor Eco-Playground at Level 1 featuring a climbing net, a swinging bridge, and a tall green slide plus inclusive swings and a wheelchair accessible merry-go-round. Inside City Square Mall, there’s a smaller area for toddlers located conveniently next to McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts, while older kids can also check out the amazing AIRZONE Suspended Net Playground for tons of indoor fun.
The nursing rooms at City Square Mall are available at Level 2 and 4 while the family rooms are located at B1 and B2.

Forum The Shopping Mall

Forum The Shopping Mall in Orchard is best known for being a lifestyle hub for kids, thanks to the many enrichment centres and kids’ brands located under one roof. They’ve also got Hip Kids Club Playground, located on level 2 next to the information counter, which features a wooden style playground with climbing structures and slides, padded flooring, and toddler-ready low to ground structures. Unlike other mall playgrounds, there is a small annual fee of $25 and an application form to complete, then you need to book hour-long slots ahead of time. In return you score some pretty sweet discounts at many of Forum’s kid-friendly stores.

Funan
Funan in City Hall is best known for having multiple creative and tech stores under one roof. They’ve also got a rock climbing wall by Climb Central! Funan houses offices and co-working spaces like Trehaus plus plenty of cafes, restaurants like Noka and Godmama and even a roof top edible garden. We love how cool the main interior of this mall is, with its airy open concept and indoor cycling track for those passing through on bikes.
Great World

Great World serves those in the River Valley, Fort Canning and Robertson Quay neighbourhoods (and it is super accessible now with Great World MRT station on the Downtown Line!). We love that this shopping mall has an abundance of restaurants and family-friendly shopping, including Motherswork, Bed Bath N Table and more. There’s the Great World Playland at level 2 which is best for kids aged 3-12 years old. This free playground features a long metal tube slide, climbing nets, a mini floor trampoline and tunnels to explore. We also love that there’s a Kith cafe nearby so mums and dads can get some coffee and watch their little ones play in full view!

ION Orchard
ION Orchard is directly connected to Orchard MRT station on the North South, Downtown and Thomson lines. It’s an iconic shopping mall in Singapore, thanks to its amazing architecture and the sheer volume of luxury and high street retailers you can find all under one roof. Teens love to hang at this shopping mall as there are shops like Typo, Lovisa, Cotton On and Zara. Make sure to check out the F&B too, from Bacha Coffee for a spot of high tea to Violet Oon for Peranakan fare and 1-ATICO at level 55, giving a panoramic view of the city.

Marina Square
Marina Square is a large shopping mall in town, often with kid-friendly events happening in the main atrium. Located just outside Kiddy Palace and Mothercare on level 3, you will find a padded ground play area (indoors and air-conditioned) for the little ones, and a space-themed playground for the 2-and-up set.

Paragon
Paragon is a top pick for parents when shopping in town. There’s Metro Department store, along with luxury houses like Etro, Gucci, Balenciaga, Calvin Klein and more. Fam-friendly shops include Le Petit Society, Marks & Spencer, Petit Bateau, SEED HERITAGE, and Toys R Us! When it’s super hot outside, make a beeline for the free indoor (air conditioned) playground on level 5 – there’s a climbing wall, mini- slides and tunnels, plus benches for parents and helpers to sit on nearby. Keep some coins handy for the merry-go-round and vehicle coin rides (unless your kids are blissfully unaware these machines move!). We love popping into this free playground before or after a dim sum lunch at Crystal Jade on the same level.

Suntec City
This mega shopping mall in Singapore is home to SuperPark, one of our favourite indoor playgrounds! But if you’re looking for free play, there’s a playground at Tower 3 with a small play area consisting of a crawling tunnel and a slide along with some cars on springs that bounce up and down. It’s right next to some ZOOMOOV animal rides and coin rides. The soft padded area makes this spot a good one for crawlers – the playground is better for 12 months to 5-year-olds.

Tanglin Mall
Tanglin Mall is right on the outskirts of Orchard so it’s not as crowded as other popular shopping malls nearby like ION Orchard or 313@somerset, but it does offer lots of great Singapore-based brands for the whole family. Kids will love Smiggle and the Children’s Showcase while there are tonnes of great shops for mamas. Little Ninja Academy offers and indoor obstacle workout for kids plus there are often kids events and shows in the central area. There are food options aplenty too, including Yantra, Beviamo, Tanamera Coffee, House of Anli, Paul and more.
The Grandstand
The Grandstand has lots of kid-friendly stores, a swim school and gymnastics classes for kids. There is a small outdoor play area, located on the way in from the car park (right by Marsden Swim School. There are swings, a merry-go-round and a cute little pretend road map for kids to ride around with their scooters or small bikes. There’s a shuttle bus that offers pick-ups and drop-offs to and from Botanic Gardens, Tan Kah Kee and Sixth Avenue MRT stations.

Thomson Plaza
Located along Upper Thomson Road, Thomson Plaza is a humble neighbourhood shopping centre that offers cafes, enrichment centres and preloved luxury bag shops.

Tiong Bahru Plaza
While it’s not really a shopping mall (more of a neighbourhood shopping centre so you will find household necessities, some fun handbags and other bits and pieces), Tiong Bahru Plaza does have a funky playground on the rooftop. Let the little ones run loose in this retro designed area with a slide, see-saw, trampoline and an inclusive merry-go-round – something different to your average shopping mall playground.

VivoCity
VivoCity is a very kid-friendly shopping mall in Singapore thanks to the multiple kids’ stores (Cotton On Kids, Mothercare, Toys R Us and more) plus cinemas. There’s a Polliwogs indoor playground and the free outdoor playground located at Level 2 as well! Head to Play Court, the outdoor kids’ play zone with low slides and a trampoline for little ones. Ages 6 and up can enjoy the taller climbing structures and swings. Kids can also splash around at the Sky Park.

Junction 8

Junction 8 is a shopping mall in Bishan, directly connected to Bishan MRT station on the North East Line. The playground on level 3 of Junction 8 features a see-saw, in addition to other swinging, bouncing, and balancing rides plus a climbing structure for bigger kids.

NEX
NEX is a huge mall located in the Upper Serangoon area, with several supermarkets, popular beauty and fashion chains like Sephora and Pomelo, Shaw Theatres cinema and even houses Serangoon Public Library. The NEX rooftop playground, kidzPlay @ SkyGarden has both wet and dry play areas. The dry area will keep kids busy with slides and bridges, while the water play park has pirate-themed features, including a pirate ship with slides, water fountains and tipping water buckets to cool you down.

Wisma Atria
Located right next to ION Orchard is Wisma Atria (which is also accessible from Orchard MRT station) which has the flagship Cotton On Kids store and Seed Heritage, offering lots of cute baby and kids clothing! You’ll find the food court on Level 4 offers lots of yummy affordable eats, including halal options.
Singapore’s best shopping malls: East
Jewel Changi Airport
Jewel Changi Airport has everything – a 40-metre-high ‘waterfall’ rain vortex, over 100 F&B options, shopping galore and tons of family-friendly attractions. So what’s not to like about this iconic shopping mall in Singapore! Canopy Park is well worth a visit, with kid-friendly mazes, sky nets and slides. Make sure you check out Canopy Bridge too, where you can walk on see-through bridge high above the ground level for amazing views of the Jurassic Park-like surroundings of Jewel Changi Airport.

i12 Katong
i12 Katong is our favourite kid-friendly mall in the East! It’s got an indoor playground (pay to enter) WAN TO PLAY where little tykes will adore the merry-go-round, slides, ball pits, pretend play kitchen and dress-up corner. i12 Katong also has one of our fave rock climbing spaces, Climb Central, a Golden Village cinema complex (where little kids watch free!) as well as a multitude of enrichment classes – everything from All That Jazz Academy to Mathnasium, Olympic Taekwondo Academy, Tree Art, ToTT (cooking classes for kids)! There is shopping galore, and restaurants with kids’ menus (think Privé, Wings Bar and Café, Wine Connection, Yum Yum Thai).

Kallang Wave Mall
Kallang Wave Mall is connected to the Singapore Sports Hub and Indoor Stadium, offering plenty of casual kid-friendly eateries, shopping and even an arcade. It’s home to Climb Central, a rock climbing gym located smack dab in the middle of the shopping mall! At Level 1 there’s a cute train ride attraction – an actual train that chugs through the mall – get your tickets at the ZOOMOOV counter next to FairPrice Xtra. The free Splash-N-Surf water play area on the rooftop (level 3) has water sprinklers, waterslides, a merry-go-round with little bucket seats, fountains, sprays… basically everything fun that can be done with water!

Parkway Parade
Serving residents in the Marine Parade area, Parkway Parade is a decent-sized shopping mall that boasts over 200 stores spanning F&B, lifestyle, fashion and more. Highlights here include CS Fresh and FairPrice Xtra supermarkets, Daiso, Din Tai Fung and Benjamin Barker. The marine life-inspired free playground at the side of Parkway Parade on Level 1 is a cute play area with a dolphin slide, and springers resembling a seahorse and octopus.
The nursing rooms at Parkway Parade are available at Basement 1, Level 1, Level 2 (inside Isetan children’s department) and Level 3.

PLQ Mall
PLQ Mall in Paya Lebar is always buzzing with activity – it’s directly connected to Paya Lebar MRT station on the East West Line and Circle Line. One of our favourite features of this shopping mall is the free Parkside located between PLQ3 and the residences, right next to Jimmy Monkey Cafe – perfect for enjoying a coffee and nibbles while the kids go climbing, swinging and running at the playground! It gets pretty hot at midday, but also quickly becomes shaded from about 3pm. Highly recommended for playdates so mamas can chat while the kiddos play nearby!

Seletar Mall
Located in Sengkang, Seletar Mall is directly connected to Fernvale LRT station on the Sengkang North-East Line (NEL), and Sengkang bus interchange. You’ll find the usual neighbourhood mall retailers here (though it’s worth noting they do have Din Tai Fung!), several enrichment centres and a FairPrice Finest. The free playground on level 4 is great for kids 5 and under as it’s partially sheltered with slides, climbing nets, swings, see-saws and climbing platforms.

Changi City Point
Changi City Point shopping mall is located within Changi Business Park, so it mostly serves the office crowd in that area. There are tons of F&B options here, from fast food to halal eats and cosy restaurants. For kids, there’s ‘The 3 House’ – an interactive wet and dry park on the 2nd floor of Changi City Point Mall. Ideal for younger tots, there are swings, gentle fountains and mini pools for cooling off in, and a playground with climbing equipment (best for older siblings as the ropes course can be tricky!).

Compass One
Compass One shopping mall is centrally located in Sengkang with over 180 retail stores. The Ninja Trail water play area in Compass One consists of a wet obstacle course for little ninjas to fight their way through. The green waterslide is good fun and is sure to keep kids active for a while.

Eastpoint Mall
Eastpoint Mall is directly connected to Simei MRT station on the East West Line, with plenty of F&B, enrichment centres and shopping. They often host kids’ bootcamps during the school holidays, so keep your eyes peeled on their socials for updates! The free mall playground on level 6 of Eastpoint Mall features a ship-like play structure, slides and little swings.

Tampines 1
Tampines 1 shopping mall is located in the area of Tampines MRT station and Tampines bus interchange (along with two other malls, Century Square and Tampines Mall), and is kitted out with retail and F&B brands like Don Don Donki, Awfully Chocolate, Hooga and more. There’s a jungle-themed water playground here with water slides, mini pools, swings and scavenger hunts that are perfect for little tykes to burn maximum energy.

Waterway Point
Waterway Point in Punggol is one of the shopping malls responsible for ‘making Punggol great again’ – this shopping centre is home to Decathlon, Marks & Spencer, Daiso and more! The Happy Park wet play area located on level 2 is great for kids looking for a splash around.

Singapore’s best shopping malls: West
IMM
IMM is an outlet mall in Jurong East carrying discounted goods from brands like Akemi, Coach, Fossil, Tumi and even kids’ brands like Chateau de Sable and Cotton On Kids. It’s a fab shopping centre to get all your lifestyle needs at a steal! The free playground on Level 3 has a dry and wet area – a shaded dry playground with slides and a merry-go-round, while the wet zone consists of a flower-themed water play area, complete with watermills and spraying flowers.

JEM
JEM shopping mall is well known for being ‘the Orchard of Jurong East’, boasting brands like Chanel Beauty, Dior Beauty, H&M, Love Bonito and IKEA Jurong. It’s always busy here so be warned – the crowd really starts to form on weekends and around the morning and evening peak hour rush!

Lot One Shopper’s Mall
Lot One Shopper’s Mall in Choa Chu Kang is a humble neighbourhood shopping centre that also houses the Choa Chu Kang Public Library. The wet playground at Lot One Level 5 features fountains, spray tunnels and water jets.

Westgate
Westgate is part of the shopping mall trio at Jurong East – many of the eateries here are ‘alfresco’ (open-air seating, but within the air-conditioned mall) and there are lots of recognisable retail brands here like Aesop and Sephora. Westgate Wonderland is the shopping mall’s fantasy garden playground on level 4, with a gigantic watering can that rains down, while water fountains spout liberally from the ground. Bigger kids can shimmy up the playground’s towering tree house while the younger set romps among oversized bluebells, fruits and critters, some of which respond to touch with light and music!

Singapore’s best shopping malls: North
Canberra Plaza
Canberra Plaza is one of the newer neighbourhood shopping centres in Singapore, serving the young estate of Canberra (the neighbourhood is mostly made up of Built-to-Order flats occupied by young families) and is connected to Canberra MRT station on the North South Line. It’s home to Singapore’s third A&W outlet, Starbucks, Ya Kun Kaya Toast and Daiso. There’s an indoor playground located within McDonald’s at Canberra Plaza, with slides and fun crawl spaces for little ones. There’s also a rooftop water play area here, albeit small. Located at level 3, kiddos can splash around the play area and play with multiple water playground equipment.

Sembawang Shopping Centre
Sembawang Shopping Centre is made up of a handful of F&B and lifestyle stores (including Daiso) and often has sales going on at the atrium. This shopping mall has not one but two playgrounds for kids to play in – a dry playground and a wet playground. The dry playground located at Level 3 is a small area for little ones to have fun in with slides and multiple other playground equipment. There’s also a 15,000 square foot open-air wet playground with water pistols, propellers, buckets of water and fountains.

Causeway Point
Directly connected to Woodlands Bus Interchange and Woodlands MRT station on the North South and Thomson-East Coast lines, Causeway Point is a popular shopping centre for all your lifestyle needs and even has a cinema on the top floor. On that same floor (Level 7) is where you’ll find the dinosaur water playground with slides, water spouts and larger than life dinosaurs! Across the street, there’s Woodlands Civic Centre (home to Woodlands Regional Library) and Woods Square, which offers more dining options.

Northpoint City
Northpoint City is a popular haunt for families as it’s arguably the largest shopping mall in the north of Singapore (seriously, people often get lost here!). Northpoint has a 5,400 square foot wet/dry playground on the centre’s roof that will have your water babies squealing in delight. There are dinosaur-themed water features, water jets, tunnels, fountains and multi-play structures, plus a small playground for those kiddies who prefer to stay dry.
