Bhing has been a helper in Singapore for over 27 years. Here she writes an open letter on behalf of all those who do not have a voice as foreign domestic workers:⁠

"Dear Ma’am, I am your new domestic worker. As you know, I came from a country that is very different from yours, and your culture. The food here is new to me also. But I will do my best to adjust. This is my first time leaving my country. I left my family to work here in Singapore because I need a stable job to provide for my children. It was not easy doing that, but for us, it is a choice that we need to make. I remember what my agent told me before I left. She said I should be very careful in everything I do. Obey my employers all the time. Do not talk back to my employers. Do not complain about work, because I came here to work. Be nice to everybody in the house. And work hard so that, you, my employers, will be happy.⁠
⁠
As your domestic worker, I want you to know that I can do all those things that my agent told me. Even if she had not reminded me of it, I would be good to you and to your family. I will do my best in my job so everybody will be happy. Because that’s how I was brought up. But I hope that you, as my employer, will understand me too. I hope that you will be interested in getting to know me, where I came from, why I applied for a job here. Ask me if I have kids, and how I cope in leaving my family back home. And whether I feel homesick."⁠

We checked out the newest, biggest arcade in Orchard: Timezone Orchard Xchange! It’s one big colourful noisy space for older kids and adults! Play over 160 games including bumper cars, mini bowling, Virtual Reality rollercoasters, Hungry Hippos and other arcade games. It’s easy to over spend here on the slot machines so it’s a good opportunity to teach kids what they’re using their money for. Our kids got the most fun out of the arcade games like the VR roller coaster, the motorbike rides and we’ll be back to try the bowling! Plus, this new arcade also has two unique party rooms designed for birthday celebrations - great for tweens and teens!
