Guess what? The ARTGROUND opens its engaging space

Guess what? The ARTGROUND opens its engaging space in the new mall One Holland Village! The indoor playground called ‘A Curious Garden’ is a cute playspace for little tots with its treehouse and slide, and foam ball pit. For its opening in Dec entry is just $10 per family (up to 5 pax) while in Jan it’s $5 per person.
Like the Goodman Arts location there will also be kids programmes like storytelling, drama and arts.

We got a chance to chat with Bluey Animation Director and mum, Claire Renton who is in SG for Singapore Comic Con!⁠

𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝘽𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩?⁠
Bluey is all about play. It’s such a vital aspect of a child’s development, especially imaginative play for preschoolers. Bluey was created by Joe Brumm and was inspired by his family life. He and Producer Charlie Aspinwall both have two daughters roughly the same age.⁠

𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝘼𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨?⁠
Bluey is inherently Australian-made about life as an Australian family. When it first began to have international interest, there was pressure to change to American accents. I’m glad they didn’t! It’s funny to watch fairy bread and phrases like ‘wackadoo’ become part of the international vernacular!⁠

𝙉𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮?⁠
I tend to be a perfectionist, and at times that meant I put off making certain creative decisions because I wasn’t sure it was the ‘right’ choice. Now that I’m a mum, I have a lot less time! It’s forced me to become more confident in decision-making and to accept mistakes as part of the process.⁠

𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙪𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩?⁠
There’s an episode called Bike and whenever I watch it I get teary-eyed. Bluey is learning to ride her bike and is frustrated because she keeps falling off. She and Bandit take a break and watch 3 kids going through their own struggles to climb a jungle gym and put on a backpack. It’s a funny episode, but there’s this point where the music lifts and each child manages through perseverance to achieve what they’ve been struggling with. It’s all visual, there’s no dialogue about the theme, but Bluey regains the confidence to get back on her bike, and I always walk away ready to tackle whatever struggles I’m facing.⁠
There’s a special magic in being able to blend the two together through humour and treating deeper themes with a light touch.⁠

𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦! 𝟭𝟱 𝗛𝗨𝗚𝗘 𝗡𝗙𝗧 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗘𝗧⁠
The kids absolutely loved these giant NFT-inspired inflatables. There were so many (15 in total!) that we couldn't even try them all! The highlight was the huge Trekki slide and ball bit, where kids can slide into a pool of 150,000 balls. Do note though that this ball pit is quite deep, so you'll need to keep a close eye on kids under 1-metre (we briefly 'lost' our two-year-old a few times when he got buried under the balls!). Also, make sure the kids are wearing long sleeves and pants to prevent slide burns, unless they're old enough to know the proper sliding technique.⁠

Even though it's located in an open car park space, there was thankfully plenty of ventilation and lots of giant fans to keep everyone cool. We spent two hours here and the kids were exhausted by the end but had huge smiles on their faces – highly recommend for kids of all ages! Plus, there's also a mini Timezone arcade with carnival games in the mall nearby, when the kids get tired of jumping around. ⁠
