Whether you want to spend some quality time with your baby or keen to start their education at a young age, checking out a baby class is your best bet – who said enrichment classes were just for big kids? While the newborn phase can definitely feel like a bit of a sleep-deprived blur at times, soon enough you’ll be itching to get out of the house and do something more than just stare at your adorable munchkin sleeping or roll around on a play mat.
From music and movement classes (even newborns like listening to songs!) to swimming and messy play, there are heaps out there to stimulate babies in a nurturing, age-appropriate manner. We’ve included parent- and caretaker-accompanied classes, as well as drop-off infant care facilities for working parents to cover the full range of possibilities out there!
6 months to 7 years old
Taiwan’s top mandarin early childhood program is now in Singapore! At 4 years old onwards, little ones are offered a specialisation to language stream (primary school preparation, including hanyu pinyin) or the chance to try the first-ever Mandarin immersion group piano classes in Singapore. Newborn to 6 months
Beloved Bumps does some fab postnatal courses that are great for mamas with newborns! ‘New Mums’ and ‘Next Steps’ provide a safe space for new mums to head out to meet other mamas and babies going through the same thing at the same time. It’s a great way to practice getting out of the house with the baby on your own and know that help is at the other end! The topics that will be covered are ones that you don’t think about until your bub is born, including getting contacts for women’s health physiotherapists, breastfeeding specialists, sleep consultants, psychologists, personal trainers and paediatricians in the New Mums course for mamas with newborns up to 3 months old. The Next Steps course for new mothers with babies 3 to 6 months old will cover topics such as baby’s sleep, introduction to baby signs, mum-led support, baby activities, first aid recap and introduction to solids. Aqua Bambinos offers indoor swimming lessons (in 30 degree water no less!) for little ones from 6 to 35 months of age. Songs, toys and a healthy dose of fun are used in their parent-accompanied classes, where teachers focus on helping parents teach their babies about water safety and familiarisation. This weekly 45-minute accompanied playgroup (parents and helpers both welcome!) is a super-fun creative outlet for little ones, with everything from circle time, to singing, dancing, story time, games, and lots of awesome art projects (including painting and general fun sticky stuff!). These baby classes with sensory and messy play are great for exploratory learning with bubbles, songs, and music.
