Post Category - ParentingParenting - Post Category - BabyBabyLooking for a bilingual, drop-off or parent-accompanied playgroup near you? Take your bub to one of these organised baby classes so your baby can learn and explore while you meet other parents!
Whether you want to spend some quality time with your baby, meet other parents with similar-aged bubs or want to start their education at a young age, checking out a baby playgroup in Singapore is your best bet. While the newborn phase can definitely feel like a bit of a sleep-deprived blur at times, soon enough, you’ll be itching to get out of the house and do something more than just stare at your adorable munchkin on a play mat. From music and movement baby classes (even newborns like listening to songs!) to swimming and messy play, there are heaps of baby classes and playgroups out there to stimulate babies, where bubs will develop in leaps and bounds in a nurturing, age-appropriate manner.
These enrichment playgroup sessions are usually about an hour long, with some centres offering longer day programmes. There are also options where parents get to sit in with their kids, as well as drop-off playgroups. Note that these are different from ‘Playgroup’ levels in childcare centres (for ages 18 months to 3 years old), which run as half-day or full-day programmes. If you are looking for a childcare centre with Playgroup levels, refer to our comprehensive guide to childcare centres and infant care in Singapore.

3. Happy Train: Bilingual right-brain training programme

Playgroup for: 3 months to 6 years
Have you ever wondered what right-brain training actually looks like in a playgroup setting? Right-brain training refers to a learning approach that uses sensory, movement-based and visual activities to support creativity, memory and early cognitive development. Happy Train’s playgroup programme does exactly that. They believe that the first three years are a key window for brain development, where early learning experiences can shape how children respond to future learning.
Their bilingual right-brain training is an enrichment class for little ones that is delivered in both English and Mandarin, and instead of worksheets or flashcards, sessions are built around hands-on, motor-sensory activities using handmade materials. Classes are held once a week and led by experienced instructors and aim to activate the right hemisphere of the brain, fostering problem-solving, creative thinking and learning through internalised experience. Classes here are kept small, with a maximum of six children per group. This allows instructors to observe and work directly with each child during activities.
