4. Puppet Show: Journey to the West: The Tongtian River

We don’t get to see puppet shows often these days, however this performance may not really be aimed at kids as such (the plot involves a fish demon who demands unquestioned obedience and loves to feast on young boys and girls, sacrificed by the villagers!) Taipei Puppetry Theater is putting on a virtual performance of The Tongtian River to showcase the uniqueness of Taiwanese Hand Puppetry. This classic tale has been given a modern spin with lots of comedy and fun thrown in. Performed in Hokkien, with English and Chinese subtitles.

When: 17 September 2021, 3pm (20 mins)
Where: Online
How much: free

La Clique

5. La Clique

The circus is coming to town! La Clique is a world-renowned theatrical performance featuring a unique blend of circus, cabaret, comedy, and live music, performed by nine international artists and accompanied by the acclaimed four piece La Clique Palais Orkestra. Singing and live music! Acrobatics and hula hoops, rollerskating tricks and sword swallowing! You’ll be getting up close and personal at this theatre show as the audience will be seated around a small stage no larger than 3 meters wide – it will almost feel like you are a part of the show! La Clique is rated ‘G’ however do note it will include cabaret which tends to be a little risque in itself. We reckon it is best for much older kids/teens – there is some sexy stuff (suggestive dancing, talking about alcohol, smoking and crude jokes) and of course the dangerous sword swallowing and fire-eating. For teens and adults though this show is fantastic to watch!
When: 18 September – 7 November 2021
Where: Sands Expo And Convention Center
How much: $98 – $188. Click here to purchase tickets.

6. Peppa Pig Happy Day Interactive Play

Ok, so this one is not so much of a kids’ theatre performance, more of an experience for fans who can’t get enough of Peppa Pig! We don’t have much info on this yet, but we hear this experience recreates scenes from the animated series featuring three-dimensional character statues. You can also meet and greet Peppa and George in their living room.

Ages: 2 years and up
When: 710am – 10pm (reserve your slots), 3 November – 13 February 2022
Where: Marina Square Level 3, #03-208, 209
How much: $28 – $32. Click here for tickets

Kids Theatre - Baby Shark Live

7. Pinkfong Baby Shark Live: The Hidden Treasure

They’ll have to solve five rhyming riddles before the sun goes down, and their quest takes them on an exploration of new places under the sea. But when they stumble upon a mysterious shipwreck, they find more than they expected inside. This action-packed musical kids theatre show teaches little ones about friendship, family and how to discover the true treasure that lies within us.

8. PLAYtime! 2021 The Noisy Forest

The Noisy Forest is an interactive kids’ theatre show aimed at sparking your child’s creativity and encourages learning through the performing arts. In The Noisy Forest, noise and sound, movement and play are all blended into one. No need to be quiet in this kids’ theatre performance – you can Bang, Clap, Snap! and Dance around the noisy forest. There are so many sounds to be made, and vibrations to encounter, so many new noises to discover! We love how shows at the Esplanade Theatre Studio have kids sitting on the floor right up close to the theatre performance (great for fidgety kids who won’t stay in a seat).
Ages: 2 – 6 years
When: Fri, 24 Dec – Sun, 02 Jan 2022
Where: Esplanade Theatre Studio, 1 Esplanade Drive, Singapore 038981
