The Amazing Celestial Race

Wild Rice is putting on a CNY kids’ theatre show called The Amazing Celestial Race, a raucous musical inspired by the legendary competition at the heart of the Chinese Zodiac! The animals take part in the big race hosted by the Jade Emperor to win first prize, but first they need to cross a raging river and other obstacles. The Amazing Celestial Race features a wickedly funny script and heartwarming original songs that the whole family will enjoy! Save us a seat please – tickets are selling out fast!

Four Fabulous Fairytales

Join Evolve Arts in a new exploration of popular fairytales. This kids’ theatre show brings plenty of fun to well-loved tales such as Hansel & Gretel and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Tickets are selling fast, so be sure to make your booking ASAP!

This interactive kids’ theatre series aims to spark your child’s creativity and encourage learning through the performing arts. There are four productions under the Playtime! banner this year – Amma’s Sarees, Karung Guni Boy, I Nak Fly and The Noisy Forest. Each kids’ theatre production tackles a different topic, and offers a peek into themes such as noise, sound and movement, loss, courage, imagination and more.

Alice’s Topsy Turvy Tea Party

This kids’ theatre performance is a picnic-style, interactive dance experience that explores themes such as friendship and belonging. Come dressed in your party best, because this parent-child performance requires at least one accompanying adult for a ball of fun.

The Feelings Farm

When three kids get lost on the Feelings Farm while on a trip to Kranji, they must find their way out with the help of a mysterious Cloud, who takes them through the Jungle of Joy, the Field of Fear, the Swamp of Sadness and other familiar feelings. This magical kids’ theatre experience uses music, movement, poetry and multimedia to help children name and understand emotions with compassion. It draws from real experiences of children living in Singapore and aims to offer both kids and adults the right language to have honest conversations about their feelings.

The Rattle King

When the Rattle King awakes from his deep slumber, he finds that his jesters and the children around him are being far too noisy, but what’s really behind it all? That’s the journey kiddos will go on in this exciting kids’ theatre show, which celebrates empathy, harmony and cacophony. The highlight of the production? A 4.5-metre giant puppet that has been skillfully designed by award-winning theatre artist Oliver Chong.

Kids Theatre - VCH Community Concerts

VCH Community Concert by Singapore Symphony Orchestra

Singapore Symphony Orchestra returns with a bang in March with its free community concerts. Conducted by Joshua Tan, the performance will include works such as Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Tchaikovsky’s Andante Cantabile and the Rota Concerto for Strings. While the concerts are free, you’ll still need to register online (from 5 March) to book a seat, as only 150 seats are available for each performance.

Kids Theatre - Peter & Blue's School Holiday

Peter & Blue’s School Holiday

This brand-new children’s ballet performance is cheerfully brilliant and comes with a playful storyline about Peter, his dog Blue and his cat Calico as they enjoy different activities. This kids’ theatre performance features whimsical choreography and is one chapter of a four-part ballet series by the Singapore Dance Theatre. Children will get to participate in a meet-and-greet with the dancers and a photo-taking session after each performance.

Kids Theatre Singapore - International Friendship Day

International Friendship Day

This kids’ theatre show explores the issue of integration between Singaporean and non-Singaporean students, and chronicles International Friendship Day at MPSS. However, the series of events that ensue push friendship to the back of each of the students’ minds, as they explore different perspectives, effective communication and learn how empowerment can change their lives. The play also helps children learn how to develop a sense of empathy and compassion for others. The play will run at the Esplanade Theatre and online.

Jun and the Octopus

Based on the picture book by the Singapore Children’s Society, Jun and the Octopus deals with heavy issues such as body safety and child sexual abuse. The play details the story of Jun, a fun-loving boy who dreams that he’s struggling and trapped in the deep ends of the ocean, where an octopus’ tentacles have ensnared him. Throughout the story, Jun goes on a journey that talks about the power of truth, the courage to stand up for oneself and the importance of boundaries. The story is presented through puppetry, and there will be a 30-minute post-show session with experienced social workers from the Singapore Children’s Society.
