Best kids’ theatre shows & concerts in 2022!

1. HOUSE (a kids’ theatre performance) by Stan

These days, we know what it feels like to enjoy being out and about, and then suddenly stuck at home with nothing to do! Or is that really the case? House is a peek into our little curious Collector’s everyday adventures as she goes out and about, collecting objects from her environment. But what happens when the rain keeps her from going about her daily routine? Can she continue to tap into her curious nature to find joy indoors? This live theatre performance for children 15 months to 3 years, is a visual and sensory experience designed to tickle your child’s senses. Each adult-child pair will ‘live’ and view the performance in their own little “house” as they follow the Collector’s journey of discovery and fun, rain or shine! Tickets are available for pairs only with limited spaces! Ticket holders will be given exclusive access to The Artground’s arts space – Fungus Humongous 45 mins before the performance.

2. PLAYtime! Imagination Station: theatre for kids

Imagination Station is a kids’ theatre performance that tells the story of Jamie, a child that doesn’t seem to belong anywhere. Shy, awkward and quirky, Jamie is always in her own world. Her keen dislike of strangers makes it difficult for mummy to help her. One day, Jamie’s world is thrown upside down as she accidentally finds herself aboard an MRT headed to Imagination Station, a place where only imaginary friends go. When the train breaks down, Jamie must find it in her to be brave and ask for help. Imagination Station is a kids’ theatre performance that features a diverse cast of performers. Through Jamie, the production encourages the little ones to learn how to deal with changes as bravely as they can.

3. Candlelight Concert: Magical Movie Soundtracks

Candlelight is a wildly popular series of live, intimate concerts featuring classical musicians performing in dreamy locations, surrounded by hundreds of candles (battery-operated ones of course, for safety reasons!). Coming up they’ve got a Candlelight: Film Scores at S.E.A. Aquarium featuring tracks from Superman, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Madagascar!

4. The Illusionists: Family Magic Show

If you love magic and astonishing acts, step this way! THE ILLUSIONISTS show is in Singapore this 2022 with a brand new line-up of jaw-dropping, outrageous and astonishing acts ever seen on stage. This show is packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic for the whole family. Sistic rates this performance as ‘G’ but there might be some death-defying ‘don’t try this at home’ stunts here.

5. Peter & Blue’s School Holiday: Presented by Singapore Ballet

Children’s ballet, Peter & Blue’s School Holiday has a playful storyline: Peter, his dog, Blue, and his cat, Calico, frolic at the sandy beach and greet the friendly animals at the zoo. Peter and Blue’s School Holiday is part of a four-part ballet series, created by Janek Schergen, as a 60-minute performance for the young ones to enjoy in the theatre. Kids will love this great theatrical ballet show with eye-catching costumes and engaging live story-telling!

6. Young Children’s Concert 2022 DiSCOvering Treasures of Chinese Music

This children’s theatre production by Singapore Chinese Orchestra Company invites children on a musical adventure with Quek Quek as he explores the world of Chinese orchestra plucked-string instruments! Based on the book “Musical Adventures with Quek Quek”.

7. Jun and The Octopus: Children’s performance

Based on the book of the same name, this kids theatre show adaptation uses puppetry to deliver messaging to children around the topic of safe and unsafe touch, and covers issues related to sexual abuse. This performance has been created in consultation with Clinical Psychology Dr Lin Hong Hui and after each show there is a post-show facilitation session with the Singapore Children’s Society.

8. PLAYtime! Together: Children’s performance

Gor Gor and Mei Mei are stuck at home and bored while mummy is working from home. What can they do to entertain themselves? Join the siblings as they go on an adventure and discover new ways to play together using the power of imagination! Together is a kids’ theatre performance that focuses on how little ones can engage in unstructured play and how imaginative play can transcend boundaries and challenges. Shining a light on sibling relationships, journey along with the pair as they encourage each other and show moments of empathy and understanding as they navigate the challenges and struggles of the ‘new normal’. All performances are relaxed and accessible for young children, including those who are on the autism spectrum, as well as children with sensory or communication conditions or learning disabilities.

9. Remember Rainforest: The ARTS FISSION Company online performance

Be enthralled by Remember Rainforest, a magical show made for kids and families on the poignant issue of deforestation. This show will be available for online live streaming where families can watch the children performers from the arts granary dance programme. Meet the Child Hero, the Ancient Tree Spirit, the Forest Shaman and other wildlife in the forgotten rainforest. Kids will learn about why it’s important to treasure and protect our natural heritage, as the Child Hero goes on a journey to save the rainforest and its wildlife inhabitants or risk loss forever.
