These 25 (mostly) free Christmas events for kiddos should keep your little elves occupied through the holidays, mama!
We know some call it the silly season, but for kiddos Christmas is time for serious fun — and creating some seriously wonderful memories. From blizzards to free Christmas crafts, here are 25 ways to make merry with your kiddos!
Not every single event on this list is free, mama, but the ones that cost money – like decorating gingerbread houses or watching a hilarious Christmas panto – seem worth the spend to us. The most important thing is that you you and your kiddo have a ball!

In addition to its iconic Christmas decorations, Tanglin Mall is kicking things up a notch this year with its Christmas Winterland festivities! First off, you’ve got their famous evening “avalanche” (where kids get covered in foam) and the magical evening “snow”. And of course there’s Santa’s Workshop at the Level 2 Atrium, featuring a sing-a-long and storytelling session in addition to the all-important Santa Meet & Greet and photo op – no minimum spend required! There’ll be a free photo booth and you can BYO camera as well. Each session is limited to the first 30 families to ensure a fun time for everyone. Tanglin Mall will also be offering Christmas craft workshops for kids ages 5 to 12 ($30 minimum spend required, limited to 20 participants) and an exclusive tea party (spend $150 or more to join in the fun, limited to 15 kids per session). In the days leading up to Christmas there’ll also be an Ecuadorian Band playing Christmas carols with a Latin twist, and an artisanal Christmas Market to get in that last-minute shopping. It would be impossible to visit Tanglin Mall and not feel festive during the month of December!

While we eagerly await the big reveal after GWC’s major revamp concludes in 2020, in the meantime the mall is bringing the magic of Christmas to kiddos through popular Hong Kong cartoon characters HappiPlayground. Promoting eco-friendly themes to audiences young and old, colourful characters Panda, Bunni, Pucci, Tiger and Pinky have transformed Level 1 with interactive activities like decorative ornament-making workshops, Christmas carolling, and a cool augmented reality experience (minimum spend $50). Shoppers who spend a minimum of $150 (how easy is that to do at Christmas time?!) can even earn the chance to join a tea party with the HappiPlayground characters, completely with HappiTea and Hong Kong egglets! And of course everyone can look forward to lots of fun meet-and-greet photo ops!

A Christmas cracker of a show, this production from the whizzes (and super talented kiddos) at Centre Stage School of the Arts features a heroic escapade, an epic showdown with a villain, of course a happy ending, and heaps of audience participation in between!

Maybe the most expensive activity on this list, but a super fun one that just might be worth it when you see your child in a mini-chef’s hat. A few weeks ago we got a special sneak preview of the kids’ holiday programmes at Shangri-La Singapore, and our kiddo’s hands-down favourite was the Gingerbread House Workshop with the hotel’s Area Executive Pastry Chef. Expect copious amounts of frosting, cookies and candy, along with festive tunes and fun holiday decorations.

To welcome the holiday season, Sassy Mama fave Picotin Express will have a lineup of family-friendly activities on weekends throughout December leading up to Christmas, including movie screenings, free games, popcorn (don’t forget to leave room for pizza!), and candy. Of course the biggest highlight will be live magic performances from award-winning magician Tommillusions!

The registrations have already closed for the fifth edition of this super fun event that supports Make-A-Wish Foundation (Singapore), but why not head down to cheer on thousands of festively attired runners (it’s gotta be hot in those Santa suits!)? Plus there’s a super fun carnival with rides and games at the finish line!

We loooove The Peranakan Museum, so can’t wait to check out this FREE holiday-themed session that’ll feature Christmas carols and special Peranakan-style ornament-making sessions. As ever, kiddos can also look forward to storytelling sessions and some super fun batik-and-kebaya dress-up!

With an aim toward delivering food hampers to an astounding 41,756 beneficiaries across Singapore this year, the Boys’ Brigade youth organisation is looking for families to do hands-on charity work and spend some quality time together this holiday season. It’s an absolutely wonderful activity that even small kids can get involved with, and will help show your kiddos how good it feels to help the less fortunate. Families are required to drive their own vehicle to help deliver the food hampers.

Canadian International School (CIS) is holding a magical morning of festive fun for all little ones and parents to join, including Christmas carols and a performance of Aladdin by CIS drama students; FREE Christmas-themed arts and crafts activities, tasty festive refreshments; and a chance to meet Santa. So surely you’re gonna head to Cluny Court to meet Santa, right mama? Just in case you want to get your shop on while you’re there, why not drop the kiddos off at this super fun craft workshop run by parenting expert Victoria Yim of The Bright Life? Kids can look forward to designing their Happiest Bag – which they can then help you haul all your shopping loot home with – or making Magical Glitter Jars. Kiddos 4 and under must be accompanied by and adult.

This UK theatre production arrives in Singapore with an engaging show recommended for children from as young as three years old. The live show promises a highly educational and immersive experience for the entire family. Children will go crazy with delight to see this beloved Christmas poem brought to life with wacky costumes and outrageous performances. Duration is a brisk 55 minutes, with no interval (yay!).

TWILIGHT: Flea & Feast returns this December and is the perfect place for you to feast, shop and play with snow! This free festive season extravaganza at Suntec City features over 50 delectable F&B stalls, along with heaps of cool local vendors to help you get your holiday shopping on. Best of all, kids can look forward to nightly “snowfall” hourly from 3pm on Saturday and Sunday, and from 6pm on Friday. There will also be movie screenings of some true holiday classics, including The Polar Express, Elf, The Chronicles of Narnia, and much more!

Few things go together better than The Nutcracker and Christmas time. Of course if you have small children, anything can be made better when you add in Sesame Street. All three of these magical ingredients will come together this December with A Nutty Christmas at Suntec City, where beloved Sesame Street characters like Elmo, Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie will be spreading some Christmas cheer with a full-lineup of festive merriment, including a Sesame Street Live show, a marching parade, a tea party meet-and-greet with characters, and much, much more!

So while not explicitly a Christmas event, this hourlong concert designed to expose children to classical music will feature “The Waltz of the Flowers” from The Nutcracker, along with other classics like “March of the Toreadors” from Carmen and “The William Tell Overture”. This wonderful concert series is specially designed for children aged 6 and under – including babies!

The non-profit Association Française Singapour is organizing what’s sure to be a super chic fête on Sentosa at the W Hotel. You can expect lots of fun activities for kids (including face painting, balloon sculpting, arts & crafts, and a magic show); Christmas carols from the Alliance Française Choir; a shopping fair; and a whole bunch of surprises. Santa Claus will also be there with a festive photo booth, and did we mention a FREE French breakfast for the family?

This holiday season, Tanjong Pagar Centre (TPC) teams up with local artists and performers to transform the Urban Park into a colourful, fun and exciting place for all to enjoy! Hullabaloo is designed by local artist, Aida Sa’ad, and is the same one that was presented at The Artground – A Curious Place To Be.
Highlights will include a craft workshop: “Pompom Pets” along with live musical performances by Ecuadorian band KAYNA.

Chances are you’ve already spotted the massive Cartier ferris wheel out in front of ION on Orchard Road; step inside and you’ll discover a whole lot more festive merriment, from an Insta-worthy Christmas park with trees, colourful baubles and over 800 gift-wrapped boxes, to the Rockettes-inspired “ION Sparklers”, who’ll be high-kicking all over the mall along with a roving brass band and the Overdrive singers crooning out Christmas hits. And Santa Claus himself will be available for twice-daily meet-and-greets in the last two weekends in December leading up to Christmas!

Calling anyone who loves Christmas lights! Head to Sentosa Cove this December for a magical interactive light display and show that will continue all the way through the New Year! Get a chance to interact with the decorative arch at the main entrance simply by contact and have a colourful illuminated Christmas by the marina! On weekends kids can also look forward to three exciting illuminated inflatables for some extra bouncy festive fun, and everyone will love the holiday-themed live music performances to get you in the holiday mood!

For the first time ever, kids can gain free admission with “KidZania Christmas Night Out” between 21-31 December, with selected role-play ad themed activities chargeable separately. Families can also look forward to Wishing Stars, a festive year-end celebration that includes a Christmas light show, an Elves Station where kids can learn how to wrap and onate presents, and a 3D art installation of Santa’s House, a daily Christmas City Parade, and other yuletide treats!

Come join Thomas the Tank Engine as he makes his first Live! Show appearance following the recent feature film, Thomas & Friends™ BIG WORLD! BIG ADVENTURES! What’s more, during each session, 50 lucky kiddos and their families will have a chance to meet Thomas and the Fat Controller up close. On weekdays at 4pm (except 3rd December), parents can also bring their kids to the Thomas Workshop and Tea Party. Have them expand their creativity through a sand art activity and try their hand at decorating their very own cupcakes.
