Details of Singapore Night Festival’s 2024 edition are now out! Singapore Night Festival, one of the little red dot’s more anticipated art festivals, is back again in August for its 15th edition. The theme of Singapore Night Festival 2024 is the Art of Play. It is set to captivate festival-goers with an exploration of the concept of play and childhood inspired by the historical significance of the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) precinct as the birthplace of some of Singapore’s first schools.

This edition marks a significant expansion, stretching from its traditional two-weekend format to a three-weekend extravaganza. Singapore Night Festival will light up the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct with new highlights. Look forward to the Highlight Act – Wonder World, amusement park rides, old school game stalls and nostalgia-themed food and beverages. Plus, get ready for an exciting line-up of programmes including dynamic projection mappings featuring works by local artists, Night Lights installations and more! Look out for performances including jazz performances and a xinyao singalong – another festival first – plus, refuel with a scrumptious spread of food and beverage at five festival villages!

Here are some Singapore Night Festival 2024 highlights to look forward to:

1. Wonder World – The Machine of Nostalgia

Singapore Night Festival 2024 - Wonder World

Inspired by 1950s amusement parks in Singapore, it’s all about nostalgia with Wonder World. But it’s not just the older generation who’ll appreciate this exciting throwback; adults, kids, and everyone in between will have a bevy of rides, games, stalls, and of course, a whimsical old-world setting with massive murals on billboards as the background. Look out for a wrestling ring and live performances while you’re there.

2. Night Lights Installations

Singapore Night Festival 2024 - Night Lights - Take Flight

On to the Instagrammable installations everyone’s looking forward to: Night Lights. Put on your walking shoes to explore the BBB precinct and snap plenty of photos with 10 light installations. Everything is ‘play’ themed, and judging from early visuals of the event, you can expect childhood throwbacks to the 60s to 90s.

With installations named ‘Disco Bus’ and ‘Affirmation Steps’, you know these are going to be worth a visit. On our radar are also a giant glowing paper aeroplane, geometric baked goods, and plenty of other interactive installations.

In between exploring the BBB precinct, admiring the artworks, and snapping plenty of photos, take some time to wind down at one of the Festival Villages. Each one has a different theme, plenty of food and performances, so be prepared to do a crawl of all four. Fret not, you’ll have more than enough time seeing that there’s a late-night Festival Village open beyond midnight at GR.iD. There’s an escape room and beer garden to keep you entertained. Another festival village is at SMU Campus Green, which we hear is going to be amping up nostalgic vibes. Over at CHIJMES, you’ll get to appreciate the historical landmark, while the Armenian Street Festival Village pays homage to Peranakan heritage, plus bonus retro video games!
