"I’d been married for a decade before, so dating was not a scene I ever expected to find myself on. I was single for about six months before I decided to give dating a chance. I started, like many others, on Tinder – that was the only one I’d heard of, but I quickly realised that it was more suited to those looking for short flings.⁠ I then tried other dating apps like Bumble and Hinge, with some success. That said, I thought being a single mum wouldn’t impact my dating life much, and I was offended that some people saw it as a deterrent. Often I opted to omit the fact that I'm a mother of one until after a first date, but I soon realised that wasn’t the right approach for me. Dating someone with a child *is* different, particularly if you don't have one. It changes the trajectory of how a relationship can develop, restricts the amount of free time available to date and there's a whole other dynamic to consider. So now I'm much more honest with myself and with other people about it."

Isn’t Chinatown looking stunning? Exploring this neighbourhood makes for a fun trip with the kids. We love heading to Chinatown around Mid-Autumn festival to see the Chinatown street light-up of sculptured lanterns in fun designs. This year there will be 900 lantern pieces depicting the jade rabbit, mooncakes, pomelos, and the full moon along the stretch of road between Eu Tong Sen Street and New Bridge Road, while South Bridge Road will be decorated with snow skin mooncakes. Look out for the towering 12-metre-tall Chang-E (Chinese goddess of the Moon) centrepiece located opposite Chinatown Point. While you are there, pick up some knick-knacks for the kids, explore the upstairs of one of our fave temples, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, shop for Chinese tea sets and kitchenware on Temple Street, and then have a huge dim sum meal.
