Colugo Camp at Mandai Wildlife Reserve is now open! Read on for our full review of what to expect, whether it’s worth the $550 price tag, and what the overall experience is like.

One of 2025’s best gifts is the fact that you can now stay at the zoo! Earlier in the year, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree opened its doors, and now Colugo Camp has launched! Unlike Mandai Wildlife Reserve’s seasonal glamping experiences at the respective wildlife parks, Colugo Camp is a permanent addition to the reserve. The best part is, it’s an all-inclusive experience with safari-inspired tents, guided tours and free entry to the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Wonders. We were lucky enough to be able to cop a stay, so read on for our honest review of Colugo Camp, and whether its minimum of $550 price tag is worth it. We’ve also got the lowdown on camp dates, the camp itinerary, facilities and more.

Accommodations at Colugo Camp: Safari tents with bunk beds

First thoughts on the safari-style tents at Colugo Camp: they’re cosy–in a good way! With the tents decked out with aesthetic decor, they’ve gone all out to make the glamping experience as comfortable as possible. Each tent measures 4m x 5m and sleeps up to four people. It comes furnished with a queen bed and a bunk bed, and we love that they’ve included lots of lighting, a small settee, a carpet with fern motifs and other useful amenities like umbrellas, a small clothes rack and a desk. There’s also a ceiling fan, a standing fan and air-conditioning that’s sufficient for the hottest days and nights here! There’s also free Wi-Fi and power outlets inside the tent.

Now onto our honest review: with a pretty packed itinerary (more on that later!), we do wish we had more time to wind down in the tent to soak in the surrounding nature. Overlooking the reservoir, you’ll get amazing sunsets and then wake up to the sound of birds chirping–pretty unique in Singapore, in our books. Of course, there were also some downsides: the mattresses were pretty firm–very much aligned with the “camping” vibe–and with the tents located on a boardwalk, you can expect to feel it shake a little whenever anyone walks past. We didn’t quite get the best sleep here, but waking up to the stunning view made up for it.

The washrooms are also communal and located at the lobby. It honestly wasn’t too bad–and there are family washrooms that are great if you’re staying with kids. It’s also decked out with a hairdryer and some shampoo and soap (towels are also provided), with hot and cold water settings. It’s only a mild inconvenience if you need a toilet run in the middle of the night, but otherwise, it’s modern and well-equipped. There’s also a water dispenser onsite (definitely bring your own water bottles!), and you can get free parking at the Mandai Wildlife East carpark.

Dining at Colugo Camp: Free dinner & breakfast

A huge plus point about staying at Colugo Camp is the fact that you don’t need to worry about food! The stay comes with two meals: an Asian buffet dinner and an international buffet breakfast. These come in the form of mini-buffets with kid-friendly and vegetarian-friendly dishes that include appetisers, mains and dessert, and all dishes are without pork and lard. No complaints about the food from us–it was great fuel for our night at the Night Safari and the next morning at River Wonders. We were also given a light supper!

As for the dining hall itself, it is lovely! It looks like a modern cafe and is spacious and airy. It also allows you the chance to meet other campers, since you’ll all be going on the tours together–giving you a really unique communal vibe that you don’t otherwise get in standard Singapore hotels and resorts.

Itinerary for Camp Colugo: Free entry to Singapore Zoo, Night Safari & River Wonders

The unique thing about Colugo Camp is that it follows a 2D1N planned itinerary, so there’s no planning really needed on your part. Our stay began with welcome drinks at the Dining Hall. Check-in is at 3pm, and then you can head over for a free and easy afternoon at the Singapore Zoo. Dinner is then served at the Dining Hall at about 6.30pm, and then all the campers will head on a guided tour of Night Safari. Here’s where it gets really cool: we got front-row seats at the Creatures of the Night show, specially reserved for Colugo Camp campers! All the campers also got a private tram (no queueing needed!) for a tour around the safari, as well as the option to continue exploring the park, free and easy, after the tram ride. We were served a light supper of sandwiches and Milo when we returned to the camp, then it was “lights out” at 10.30pm (there are quiet hours from 10.30pm to 7am).

Day two started with a simple breakfast at the Dining Hall. We then got to enjoy early entry to River Wonders, with a guided tour through the park. We hadn’t realised how awesome early entry really was until we experienced it! Not only were we the first ones at the park, but all the animals were super active and out and about. After the tour, you’re also free to continue exploring the park. Just note that check-out from Colugo Camp is at 11am, so you can choose to check out early and leave your bags at the lobby if you plan to spend more time at River Wonders. Do note that the itinerary may be subject to change without prior notice, and optional tours, add-ons, and additional nights are available upon request but are subject to availability.

You can view the full itinerary for Colugo Camp here.

Prices for Colugo Camp: From $550 for 2 pax

Prices for Colugo Camp are $550 for two persons, $700 for three persons and $800 for four persons. These are the early bird prices for Colugo Camp, till further notice. Plus, Friends of Mandai members enjoy 15% off, and WildPass holders get 10% off. Campers must also be at least 3 years old to join this experience.

So the big question you’re probably thinking of is, is Colugo Camp worth it? We’ve done some calculations based on a $700 1-night stay for two adults and one child who are Singaporeans:

  • Value of entry to three parks: $329.60
  • Value of one-night camp stay + two meals: $370.40 ($123.47/pax)
  • Other perks: Priority seating at Night Safari’s Creatures of the Night and early entry to River Wonders + two guided tours.

With the perks in mind, we definitely feel that the price tag is on the steep side–one that we might probably save only for special occasions. But if you really love the wildlife parks and if you’re looking for a very unique experience, then we’d say the price tag makes sense.

Final thoughts on the Colugo Camp experience

Overall, the experience at Colugo Camp is unlike any other we’ve had! One thing’s for sure: the experience is something kids will absolutely love and remember for years to come. Another important factor contributing to this is the very enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable staff who carried out the camp itinerary incredibly smoothly. We would just recommend that you come prepared for LOTS of walking (in Singapore’s humid weather, mind you), so bring those portable fans and walking shoes along. There’s also SO MUCH zoo time, so little ones who love animals will really get the most out of this experience.
