No air-con at Sengkang Grand Mall? We spill the tea on the open-air concept Sengkang Grand Mall with its giant Buangkok Hawker Centre, tasty food options, two kids’ playgrounds, and lots of shops.
After a long wait, the highly anticipated Sengkang Grand Mall has opened with an open-air concept (but don’t worry – there are giant fans to keep you cool!) and lots of options for food and places to shop till you drop. Unlike other shopping malls in Singapore, Sengkang Grand Mall is designed to be an integrated hub with retail shops, a childcare centre, Buangkok Community Club and a hawker centre for residents near Buangkok MRT station.
Since Sengkang Grand Mall mall isn’t air-conditioned throughout, it doesn’t quite feel like your typical mall. We love that the first floor has a giant open atrium with plenty of space for kids to run around. Don’t panic though—there is aircon inside the individual shops and restaurants at Sengkang Grand Mall, just no air-con as you’re walking around the mall. There are giant fans though, so it doesn’t feel hot and stuffy. From delicious food like City Hotpot to Western cuisine at Kenny Rogers and favourite toy shops and baby clothes shops for parents like The Entertainer and Mothercare, Sengkang Grand Mall has it all! Playgrounds at Sengkang Grand Mall
Outdoor Playground at Level 1
If your active kiddos are getting restless walking around Sengkang Grand Mall, take them outside, where you’ll find an outdoor playground with climbing structures, a slide and rocking kiddy rides.
Just note that this outdoor playground at Sengkang Grand Mall is not sheltered, so the slides can get quite hot under the sun! Bring lots of water to hydrate and wear sunscreen.

Sheltered Playground at Level 2
If it’s too hot to play outside, take the kids to Level 2 of Sengkang Grand Mall, where they can run around and play without baking under the sun!
There are climbing nets, netted tunnels and rocking kiddy rides to keep the kids entertained. This playground at Sengkang Grand Mall is quite hidden though. Walk towards the air-conditioned tuition centre wing and head towards the bathrooms. This hidden playground is right around the corner!

If there’s one thing we love about Singapore, it’s the hawker centres! You’ll find a wide range of cuisines so that everyone can eat what they want. If you’re looking for affordable food, check out Sengkang Grand Mall’s foodcourt, Buangkok Hawker Centre. We love that it’s spacious with more than 30 food stalls and over 700 seats. As is true for most hawker centres, do note that it can take a while to find an empty table on the weekends and public holidays, so get there early to chope your seat!
