Ideal for younger tots, there are swings, gentle fountains and mini pools for cooling off in, and a playground with climbing equipment (best for older siblings as the ropes course can be tricky!).

Looking for a quick weekend getaway? We took a 3D2N trip to Desaru Coast, Malaysia and had a blast! It’s only a short 90-minute ferry ride from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal! Whether you’re looking to unwind at the beach while the kids build sandcastles or want to explore nature in Desaru with a guided tour, there’s something for everyone of all ages. We travelled with my parents who are in their 60s and two kids aged 5.5 and almost 3, and we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, which is only a short 3-minute buggy ride away from the beach and has the water park at its doorstep.⁠

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘂 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁⁠
We loved this hotel because it’s kid-friendly with free kids’ activities, a fabulous kids’ club (RM35 for the first hour) and direct access to the famous Adventure Waterpark! We also loved their swimming pool with a pool-side restaurant. Plus, there’s a well-equipped fitness centre and a relaxing spa.⁠

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 & 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘂 𝗙𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿⁠
It’s tough to choose our favourite activity...but everyone loved the Adventure Waterpark which has a kid-friendly section AND huge water slides for the young-at-heart. The Desaru Fruit Farm Tour was also a unique experience where we toured a massive fruit farm and tried deliciously sweet fruit and enjoyed a feast for lunch in true farm-to-table fashion! ⁠
