What’s new mama? There’s a new experiential slime store, a massive inflatable water in Sentosa, and new shows at the theatre!
New month, new finds! There’s a new slime store and a new pop-up inflatable water play for kids. Matilda the Musical comes to town (read our interview with the 3 kids who star as Matilda here!). Plus there’s another theatre show to look out for: SmartyPants and the Swordfish features life-sized puppets and takes a constructive look at the issue of bullying. New slime store: SLM it!
Slime lovers (that’s all kids) get excited, cos SLM it! is a new interactive slime play store on Level 4 of Plaza Singapura. You can buy slime-making kits to do at home or get the experiential slime-making experience in-store. Choose a slime texture, colour, scent and then you’ll get a jar to choose from the huge wall of charms to mix into your slime. Then start mixing! Add the activator and mix and stretch your slime until it comes together. It’s a fun activity (takes around 30 minutes) and you can bring your slime home with you at the end. The slime making experience costs $43 (with ready-made slime that you just add scent and colour and charms) or $46 where you can make the slime from scratch yourself.

SmartyPants and the Swordfish
Take the kids to an interactive show in March! SmartyPants and the Swordfish is a compelling immersive, interactive and inclusive theatre play that delves into Singapore’s history while taking a constructive look at the issue of bullying. You’ll be able to interact with the production which is pretty unique! The audience sits on stage with the actors and puppeteers and collectively makes decisions with the cast to move the story forward. The show opens with a group of students investigating the legend of Redhill, probing to uncover how a young kampung boy met his demise at the hands of a jealous sultan. As they take a look into this age-old tale, they uncover hidden truths, meet evil advisors and even fend off an attack by swordfishes! SmartyPants and the Swordfish features a collaborative staging between mainstream actors and artists with disabilities, who will be manoeuvring colourful and large puppets to bring the play to life. There’s also a post-show dialogue that unpacks the issue of bullying with sensitivity and explores how to prevent such a situation.
