SmartyPants and the Swordfish: 15% Early Bird Tickets
20-24 March 2024
Do you know the legend behind Redhill? Take the kids on a deep dive into Singapore’s history whilst learning how to tackle the issue of bullying in SmartyPants and the Swordfish! This compelling immersive, interactive and inclusive show by acclaimed directors Samantha Scott-Blackhall and Tan Beng Tian opens with a group of students investigating how a young kampung boy met his demise at the hands of a jealous sultan. As they peel back the layers of this age-old tale, they meet evil advisors, fend off an attack by swordfishes and learn what it means to have empathy for others!
Featuring a collaborative staging between mainstream actors and artists with disabilities, who will be manoeuvring colourful and large puppets to bring the play to life, the diverse casting underpins the play’s key theme, which is to have respect for one another, regardless of differences.
A sensory and wheelchair-friendly relaxed performance that incorporates Creative Captioning, Creative Audio Description, Singapore Sign Language Interpretation (SgSL) and Speech-To-Text Interpretation (STTI), all children and youths are welcome into this imaginative and safe theatre space.
