Prequel to STAR ISLAND Countdown
Want a sneak peek into the STAR Island New Year’s Eve countdown? Check out this event preview to get a glimpse of all the awesome show highlights before the countdown. Open to the general public, you’ll get to see a glimpse of STAR ISLAND shows from previous years, all playing on loop on the LED screens around the area. Looking for simple nibbles or drinks? Swing by F&B booths from brands like Penfolds, Jim Beam Highball and JCB – flash your JCB member card at the booth to get a free drink from the bar – choose from a selection of beers, wines and spirits or non-alcoholic options.
Sanrio fans will also enjoy the adorbs Sanrio Characters Pop Up Store, where Sanrio character decor and special DJ Hello Kitty x STAR ISLAND collaboration merchandise are available for purchase. Hello Kitty will pop up to mingle with fans too! From 7pm to 8pm daily, say hi to Hello Kitty, My Melody and Kuromi at Sanrio Hour – don’t miss the giant-sized Kuromi inflatable, too!

STAR ISLAND SINGAPORE Countdown Edition 2022 – 2023
The 2023 New Year’s Eve fireworks will be preceded by STAR ISLAND, a traditional Japanese Hanabi entertainment show with a futuristic twist. A popular Japanese summer tradition, STAR ISLAND elevates the experience with cutting-edge tech, experiential show elements and an intriguing storyline, all choreographed to a unique, 70-minute soundtrack with the theme LIFE – Beyond The Time.
In addition to a New Year’s Eve fireworks display – this is a showcase “Gradation Shell” fireworks that have been specially designed with Singapore’s red and white colours – you’ll also see 10 bursts of award-winning, artisanal Japanese fireworks. These fireworks have been handcrafted by Japan’s best fireworks artisans and have never been seen before in Southeast Asia, so you’re definitely in for a special treat! STAR ISLAND SINGAPORE Countdown will also feature live DJ performances, family-friendly entertainment zones and a food village with yummy eats. Sanrio fever is hitting the 2023 New Year’s Eve countdown as well! Hello Kitty is the ambassador for STAR ISLAND, and she’s popping up before the main fireworks show to mingle with fans. Along Sanrio Boulevard, there will be a special, themed corner before the main fireworks show comprising a Sanrio characters ball pit, and a cute Gudetama Garden, which opens at 5pm – perfect for adorable photo-taking opportunities. The Sanrio Characters Pop Up Store will also move from the MBS Event Plaza to The Float @ Marina Bay, so you can get your shop on for all sorts of Sanrio character merchandise.
Drone Ballet Show
STAR ISLAND’s signature choreography show is back with 400 drone devices this year, all flying in unison to create various stunning images that are worth a spot on your Instagram grid. Look out for surprise cameos from familiar cartoon characters and get ready for a big reveal on New Year’s Eve!

These light projection shows are a collaborative effort between the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) and Giving.sg, and will feature several light projections on the facades of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and the Merlion. These light projections will showcase never-before-seen artwork by students from local educational institutions, and will centre around the theme “City of Good”.

From 31 December 2022 to 2 January 2023, the OTH Festive Walk will be transformed into a fun-filled kids’ playground with a skating rink and craft activities, while there will be live music and cultural performances at the Festive Plaza.
