International Schools Singapore - UWCSEA

UWC South East Asia – New Language Programmes

While English is the main language of instruction at UWC South East Asia (UWCSEA), the College is also home to a multilingual community. Their surveys have shown that more than 90 languages are spoken in the homes of UWCSEA families, which led the school to realise that there is a complex list of ‘language aspirations’ and related language learning needs for their students. As such, UWCSEA will now offer two language programmes for students. Their Home Languages Programme will support students who are keen to have academic exposure to their mother tongue, which they don’t study during the school day. The programme also works as a stepping stone for students who may want to join an academic class in their home language when that becomes available. UWCSEA is also offering English as an Additional Language (EAL) lessons for students with less exposure to English. These programmes will be available at both campuses, across the K-12 age groups.

Dulwich College (Singapore) – Parent Chat feature

Dulwich College (Singapore) always aims to be at the forefront of innovation. That’s why the school has just launched a new online feature that connects prospective parents to current parents. Called Parent Chat, this fully integrated chat function gives prospective parents the ability to speak directly to the College’s parent ambassadors, who can answer a diverse range of questions. No topic is too small, and the parent ambassadors can offer insight on the school’s teaching and learning methodology, how well the school manages during difficult times, what the school’s attitude towards diversity and inclusion is, whether students are happy and engaged, or even general advice about settling into a new school. After all, the parent ambassadors once went through the same stressful process of choosing a school themselves, so they know first-hand the importance of choosing one that fits the whole family.
