UWC South East Asia – New Language Programmes
While English is the main language of instruction at UWC South East Asia (UWCSEA), the College is also home to a multilingual community. Their surveys have shown that more than 90 languages are spoken in the homes of UWCSEA families, which led the school to realise that there is a complex list of ‘language aspirations’ and related language learning needs for their students. As such, UWCSEA will now offer two language programmes for students. Their Home Languages Programme will support students who are keen to have academic exposure to their mother tongue, which they don’t study during the school day. The programme also works as a stepping stone for students who may want to join an academic class in their home language when that becomes available. UWCSEA is also offering English as an Additional Language (EAL) lessons for students with less exposure to English. These programmes will be available at both campuses, across the K-12 age groups.

The Grange Institution – VR and AR Learning in the IPC Curriculum
The Grange Institution (TGI) recently partnered with tech start-up VERE360 to create proprietary virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) content for several units of learning in the IPC programme. Outdoor learning is a priority too, and their new, 135sqm outdoor facility slated to be completed later this year promotes exploration and creativity. The facility, which is connected to nature, will include a customised playframe and new running tracks. Additionally, TGI also runs a Garden-To-Table project, where students and their families benefit from the fresh produce grown at the TGI garden – in line with the Singapore government’s push towards urban farming and healthy living.
