Brighton College (Singapore) is a selective school. What does it take to get accepted and how can you check if their ambitious curriculum is a good fit for your child?

Singapore’s only British prep school, Brighton College (Singapore) focuses on the foundation learning years for children aged between 18 months and 11 years. The unique curriculum here is underpinned by the English National Curriculum, but its significantly enhanced requirements mean the curriculum is also ambitious and challenging. In addition to the traditional academic subjects, Brighton College (Singapore) also emphasises leadership, character education, social responsibility and outdoor learning through all of its offerings. The team here are very selective to make sure the school is the right fit for your child – let’s take a look at the school and their selection process!

Brighton College (Singapore) Assesmen

A selective approach

Part of Brighton College (Singapore)’s educational approach is that it is highly selective with its students. Each hopeful applicant is first assessed by Brighton’s highly experienced team of educators. There’s a simple reason for this approach: children are assessed to ensure that the school is a suitable fit for them. By understanding how they think and react to different situations, the school’s educators can determine if your child will truly be happy and content here. After all, children who feel happy and supported in their school environment will thrive. It’s all about making sure Brighton is the right school for your child and their happiness, and less about the school looking for the right child for them.

What are the entrance assessments like?

The assessments will vary by age. Younger tots will undergo their assessments in special classrooms either individually or in a small group. They’ll take part in fun activities with a few teachers, and while they may perceive this as playtime, the teachers will get to observe their interests, how they approach unfamiliar tasks and speak to each child to learn more about them and their outlook on the world. Older children will face independent tasks, which can be conducted on paper or virtually. Your child will be full supported during the assessments, just as they would be supported during class at Brighton School (Singapore).

Living overseas at the moment? Fret not, because Brighton College (Singapore) can administer their assessments remotely. All you have to do is get in touch with the school and they’ll work with you to determine your circumstances and how to best support you with a remote assessment.
