Pasir Ris Park has everything you need for a fun family day outdoors! Read on for our recommendations of things to do at Pasir Ris Park, including the huge Pasir Ris Park playground, Pasir Ris Beach, a mangrove boardwalk, horses and more!

We all know and love the popular East Coast Park for its sheer size and multitude of family-friendly activities, but did you know there’s another park in Singapore that’s a worthy contender? A personal favourite of ours, Pasir Ris Park is a lesser-known gem in the East. Not only is it well-maintained, but there’s also so much to do here: It’s got beaches, scenic walking trails and cycling trails, massive free outdoor playgrounds, horse-riding, barbecue pits and fitness activities. Most of all, we love how kid-friendly Pasir Ris Park is! Read on for our tried-and-tested recommendations of all the best things to do at Pasir Ris Park, including where to find the Pasir Ris Park playground, Pasir Ris Park mangrove boardwalk and more.

Best Things To Do At Pasir Ris Park:

Pasir Ris Park playground

As parents, our favourite thing to do at Pasir Ris Park is obviously the free outdoor playground at Area 3. The Pasir Ris Park Adventure Playground is massive (NParks says it’s Singapore’s largest!) and has around seven sections–making it really easy to find quieter spots to play during peak times.

There are so many different play structures catered to kids of all ages. There’s not just one, but two pirate ships atop sand play areas here, plus another sand play area with a climbing gym. Kids can also climb up little hills, conquer rope obstacles and play on the swings. A crowd-fave is the ziplines and spinners, and we love that there’s so much space for the little ones to run around. The playground is also surrounded by lots of trees, making it a pleasant space for outdoor time.

Over at Area 1, there’s a fishing village-themed nature playgarden. Suitable for toddlers or those who just want a quieter spot to play, the Pasir Ris Park nature playgarden has structures that represent the sea, the shore, a village square and a village settlement.

Another one of our favourites is the mangrove boardwalk at Pasir Ris Park. This easy, stroller-friendly walking trail spans 1.5km through a 6-hectare mangrove forest. It looks unassuming at first glance, but the Pasir Ris Park mangrove boardwalk is a treasure trove for spotting wild animals. It’s the perfect opportunity to prompt the kids to search for mudskippers, frogs, crabs, monitor lizards, birds, squirrels, turtles and more (we’ve even spotted jellyfish during high tide … plus snakes and otters)! Plus, the view of Sungei Tampines from the Pasir Ris Mangrove Jetty is a sight for sore eyes.

The Pasir Ris Park birdwatching tower is also located within the mangrove. It stands three storeys tall and gives you a vantage point to spot birds in the canopy of the mangrove. We personally haven’t spotted any birds from the tower (we spot plenty from the ground)–but we reckon you’ll have better luck if you bring along binoculars or a telephoto camera lens. Just outside the mangrove, near Carpark C, you’ll also find the Butterfly Garden and Kitchen Garden–great spots for younger kids to explore. Note that cycling through the mangrove boardwalk is not permitted.

Pasir Ris Beach

There’s just something about beaches in Singapore that brings joy to us, given their quiet juxtaposition with the compact city skylines and HDB blocks we’re so used to seeing. Pasir Ris Beach is definitely a breath of fresh air, as it’s never as crowded as the beaches of East Coast Park and Sentosa. It stretches about 6km and is directly accessible from Pasir Ris Park. The beach overlooks Pulau Ubin. We also love that you can spot aeroplanes taking off and landing at Changi Airport in the distance! Just to manage expectations, it’s not the widest nor the most stunning beach in Singapore–but it’s good enough for a quiet beach day out with the kids.

Pasir Ris Park BBQ Pits & Camping

On weekends, it’s common to see families having picnics and playing on Pasir Ris Beach. There are BBQ Pits along the whole stretch of the Pasir Ris Beach–65 in total, to be exact. We often spot families celebrating birthdays or organisations having team-building activities at the Pasir Ris Park BBQ pits. You can make a booking here for $20. Feeling adventurous? You can also go camping overnight at Pasir Ris Park–just apply for a free permit here. There are also designated areas for fishing along the beach.

Water sports at Pasir Ris Park

It’s possible to do water sports such as kayaking at Pasir Ris Park. You can rent a kayak or stand-up paddle board at Adventure Paddlers @ Ohana Beach House, Kokomo Beach Club and PAssion Wave. The waters are relatively calm, so it’s great for beginners.

Bicycle rental at Pasir Ris Park

With Pasir Ris Park spanning a whopping 70 hectares and stretching around 3.2km, we’d say that the best way to explore it is on wheels. Pasir Ris Park has fantastic cycling trails that make it easy to explore the different sights across the four areas. The mostly flat asphalt trails here are also great for skating. That said, if you don’t have your own wheels, you can rent a bicycle at the GoCycling outlet just by Carpark C at Area 2. There’s also a self-service GoCycling kiosk just by the entrance of the neighbouring Pasir Ris Town Park by Sungei Tampines. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can cycle along the Pasir Ris Park Connector either to the Loyang Park Connector to the East or the Lorong Halus Park Connector to the North-East (it’s part of the Eastern Coastal Loop).

Horses at Pasir Ris Park

You read that right–there are horses at Pasir Ris Park! Gallop Stable is one of our favourite spots to stop at, and it’s a popular place for kids to ride horses and ponies, feed them and do horse-themed activities such as sand art. There’s also a cafe here. Even if you’re not up to spending cash on these activities, it’s always a joy to just see the horses grazing while you’re walking or cycling by. P.S. There’s also another Gallop Stable at the nearby Downtown East. More info here.

Dog run at Pasir Ris Park

If you’re a dog owner or just love dogs, then you’d be happy to know that Pasir Ris Park has a spacious dog run! If you’re not here for the dog run, the park’s trails are also great for walking or running with your furkids.

Other things to do at Pasir Ris Park: Maze garden & sports activities

There’s a hidden Maze Garden at Pasir Ris Park Area 3 that’s suitable for adventurous kiddos, though, take note that it’s not particularly well-shaded. You’ll also find the calming Therapeutic Garden with a fitness area at Area 4. There’s also a small “skate park” that’s really just a flat and clear area paved with asphalt. You’ll also find gym pods at Area 1 and Area 3. The park has beach volleyball courts and a basketball court.

What to eat at Pasir Ris Park

One of our favourite things to do at Pasir Ris Park is to spend the afternoon at the Adventure Playground, before winding down with a meal at one of the park’s restaurants. Our fave is the pet-friendly restaurant Georges at the Cove for its calming coastal views. You can get Western fare and bar bites here (they have a kids’ menu, too!). Looking for halal food at Pasir Ris Park? Rasa Istimewa Restaurant is nearby, serving an array of seafood and local fare. There’s also a small cafe at Gallop Stable, and the beach club, Ohana Beach House at Area 1, that’s more suitable for adults.

As you may be able to tell by now, Pasir Ris Park comprises four areas. Each area offers unique activities and sights, so it’s worth exploring all of them. You can view the map of Pasir Ris Park here.

By MRT: The nearest MRT to Pasir Ris Park and Pasir Ris Beach is Pasir Ris MRT. You can walk to Pasir Ris Beach via Area 2, which will take about 20 minutes.

By Bus: Bus 403 stops at Pasir Ris Park Area 3. If you prefer to take the bus from the MRT station, you have to walk towards Pasir Ris Mall and take the bus from Aft Pasir Ris St 53. The bus ride takes about 11 minutes (eight stops).

By Car: There are several carparks at Pasir Ris Park: Carpark A at Area 1; Carpark C at Area 2; Carpark D at Area 3; and Carpark E & F that border Area 3 & 4. You can get free parking at Pasir Ris Park at Carparks D and F–though, note that these free carparks at Pasir Ris Park are slightly further from the popular areas.

Family tips for visiting Pasir Ris Park

  • While it’s very possible to explore all four areas in a day, we recommend cycling to do so, unless you’re planning to take a long walk–just be mindful that little legs might find it tiring, so bring along that stroller or scooter!
  • As with any outdoor place in Singapore, we recommend bringing sun protection such as hats and sunscreen, plus lots of water and a portable fan for younger kids. A plus point is that you can find drink vending machines and water coolers at the restrooms in the park!
  • More of a fun fact rather than a tip, but Pasir Ris Park is a fantastic place to spot lots of wildlife, even outside of the mangrove! We’ve spotted owls and otters, as well as a myriad of birds. Our little one particularly loves seeing the thriving community of wild chickens around the park.
