Got a child entering international school? SMART English Junior Builds Confidence and English Skills

Does your teenager feel a little shy speaking English or struggle with the subject in school, mama? Give their English skills a boost with the SMART English Junior programme from British Council. It’s an intensive general and academic English course for students aged 11 to 14 years old that’s ideal for helping students who are preparing to enter international or local schools in Singapore.

This integrated course focuses on aspects of the language such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. It engages and supports students to be fluent in the language academically.

Qualified and experienced English teachers help students to communicate in English effectively, in the programme’s weekday classes. They are on hand to guide them in their school studies and assist them in task-based projects like presentations and online research.  The teachers also equip students with exam skill strategies and tips to truly excel in classes. This three-level programme, which takes about nine months to complete, evaluates the students’ progress through its in-house Aptis assessment tests.

Keen to improve your own English skills, mama? SMART English is excellent for students aged 15 years and above, and parents like you who are looking to boost English communication skills and gain confidence. It is a comprehensive course to prepare you for work, career advancement or future studies. This unique study programme supports you as you build a solid English base by improving your language skills through practice of real life tasks in writing, reading, listening and speaking.

Besides equipping you with your English language skills (and exam skills such as in IELTS), it hones your soft skills and communication with peers in a multicultural setting. Students get to enjoy free workshops and events (through myClub) where they can practise their English and meet new friends beyond their class.
