We’ve got all the deets on this year’s Orchard Road Christmas light-up, which will be the largest Disney light show in Southeast Asia!
Calling all Christmas lovers! We always look forward to the holiday decorations along Orchard Road – known fondly as Christmas on a Great Street – but things look to be extra…magical this year as the Orchard Road Business Association has teamed up with the Walt Disney Company (the first partnership of its kind!) to present Disney Magical Moments, which will run from 10 November to 1 January 2019.
Do your tots love Toy Story? Have you got some Frozen fanatics in your household? We have a feeling kiddos will be begging to go along for shopping trips this holiday season.
Does it take the commercialization and consumerism of Christmas to new heights? Yes. But will your kiddos be absolutely enchanted? You know it, mama.
From a carousel and photo ops to a new place to meet Santa, check out our gallery of highlights to expect this holiday season, mama! (Note: many of these are artists’ renderings since the lights aren’t actually up yet!)
Running from Tanglin Mall to Shaw House, this zone looks to be a pink-out! Kiddos will love trying to spot their favourite Disney icons – including Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Belle and more – and the intricate lighting will also feature motifs from classic Disney films (an apple from Snow White, the lamp from Aladdin, a shell from The Little Mermaid, and so on). We think it’ll make for the perfect game of I Spy, mamas!
Anchored by a main arch of 3D Disney characters stretching over the intersection of Orchard and Paterson Roads, this zone will stretch from ION to Mandarin Orchard. Trees on either side of the road will also be decorated with 3D Mickey Mouse icons, and along the side pedestrians will be able to snap photos with Mickey and Minnie set pieces.
Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Sven were made for a Christmas celebration like this! If your littlies are as obsessed with Frozen as ours are, be sure to check out the stretch of Orchard from [email protected] down to Orchard Central (which will also be decked out in Disney-themed décor).
Who doesn’t love this classic series about friendship? For a glimpse of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the gang, head to the stretch of Orchard that runs between Orchard Central and Plaza Singapura.
Back by popular demand after its launch in 2017, the Christmas Village at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza will include a duplex carousel (including special wheelchair-accessible seats) and other amusement rides, and, new this year, a Santa House where children can participate in free arts & crafts activities and partake in meet-and-greets with Santa Claus every Friday and Saturday night between 7pm and 9pm.
The Great Christmas Village will run for 42 days this year (compared to just 30 last year), from 15 November to 26 December.
We’ll see you on 10 November for the big light-up, mamas!
