Bootcamps seem to be all the rage among fitness fanatics in Singapore these days. Last Saturday I got the chance to try the newest kid on the block: Mini Momentum Bootcamp. This is not your usual bootcamp, though; instead it’s geared toward kids as young as 2! My son and I showed up 8:15 on a glorious Saturday morning, hoping to find a whole lot of fun.
Mini Momentum is the latest offering from the fabulous team behind Momentum Bootcamps. Vanessa Birch and her husband Tim make for terrific coaches, encouraging kids to run, jump (over mini hurdles – so cute!), wriggle (through tunnels), throw, catch, chase… all in an attempt to improve our little ones’ motor skills and instill a lifelong passion for fitness and health.
My 2 ½ old son particularly enjoyed the ever-popular parachute games. Another fun activity was the “human tunnel” where parents became the tunnel by doing a downward dog pose (good exercise for us, too!) as the little ones crawled under us. It was impossible not to laugh during this one.
As for me, I loved being outdoors watching my son run around while I also got to meet other mums and dads. The session for 2-to-4-year-olds lasted 30 minutes, which seemed just the perfect amount of time for the kiddos’ energy levels and attention spans.
Currently Mini Momentum only runs on Saturdays on the East Coast but – lucky for you Mamas! – they are planning to expand locations and times in the not-too-distant future.
