Our fave kids’ concert series is back! Prepare for a very musical forecast with Professor Quek and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s Little Adventurer of SCO!
Get ready for a musical storm, mamas! The Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s popular children’s concert series, The Little Adventurer of SCO, is back with its newest concert: Listen to the Musical Weather Forecast!, coming to the Esplanade Concert Hall on Saturday 27 May.
Brace yourself for a barrage of musical articulations, including staccato, legato, glissando, tremolo, pizzicato and more, as the always game Professor Quek (Conductor Quek Ling Kiong) leads the orchestra and audience on a fun musical journey to see how musical instruments can illustrate the weather.
Everything from sunny skies to thunderstorms can be represented by different beats, rhythms and melodies in music. Little adventurers can explore this relationship first-hand while listening to emblematic pieces such as Vivaldi’s Spring from “The Four Seasons”, “Against Typhoon” arranged by Liu Bin, an excerpt from Strauss’s “Thunder and Lightning Polka”, John Gummoe’s “Rhythm of the Rain” arranged by Phang Kok Jun, and more. They’ll even get to hear the world premiere of “The Weather Songs” by local composer Leong Kit Yeng, with a sing-a-long to follow!
Before the show, kids can also partake in a fun craft activity where they will learn how to make their own ocean drum out of everyday items. This DIY drum will definitely come in handy during the concert!
Listen to the Musical Weather Forecast! will be conducted in English, and is suitable for children 3 years old and above. Tickets start at just $25 apiece, but if you purchase 3 or more tickets with the Family Package you can save 10%, mama!
So pull out your musical umbrellas and get ready to sing in the rain – we’ll see you at the Esplanade, mamas!
