TREAT YO’ SELF, mama! Urban Ventures is set to serve up a buffet of art and music like never before, creating a haven for arts, music, and people over three days. Expect plenty of performances to groove to while you shop at the Artisans Market featuring 20 local brands, plus a live mural painting will have visual art enthusiasts, young and old, in awe as a plain and unadorned underpass is transformed.

Open Farm Community Social Market

Stock up on your trusty supply of locally sourced goods and farm-fresh bites as the family-friendly Social Market returns! Market-goers can look forward to a plethora of curated goods straight from Singapore soil, including homemade Cerena Honey, freshly-farmed Kuhlbarra barramundi, natural soy wax Hush Candles, and freshly-baked cupcakes and card-making workshops with proceeds going to a good cause. Take your pick of nibbles and nosh from the local vendors who will be serving up a deluge of goodies, from warm, gooey raclette cheese from The Raclette Movement to otah scotch eggs from Crack. Beat the heat with cold-pressed juices and smoothies from Hydrate Juices, or kid-favourite fresh fruit popsicles from Popaganda!

Hari Raya Light Up 2017

Geylang Serai is set to dazzle with a spectacular display of lights and new larger-than-life installations modelled after items often associated with Malay culture and heritage in celebration of Ramadan and Hari Raya! Admire the street decorations and look forward to a wide array of activities, which include a performance by Ramili Sarip – Singapore’s very own “Papa Rock” – as well as kompang (drum) and tarian (dance) performances.

When: Official Light Up on Saturday, 20 May 2017 and will run till 7 July 2017

The Lion City Youth Jazz Festival 2017

Calling all aspiring jazz musicians! Aiming to nurture young talent and develop the skills of young musicians, the festival hosted by Jazz Association Singapore (JASS) will feature mentors such as saxophonist and composer Benny Golson (USA), Music Director and pianist Jeremy Monteiro (Singapore), Guest Music Director Fritz K Renold (Switzerland), and members of the Jazz Association of Singapore Youth Orchestra (JassYO!). As part of the festival, there will be a daily Workshop Series led by the mentors at the end of the day; members of the public are encouraged to sign up to observe and learn more about jazz. You can also look forward to a concert on 27 May!

Fitnessfest 2017

Join the hottest names in health and fitness for a heart-pumping weekend! Check out Singapore’s First Fitness Concert, where Live Mass Workouts with fitness celebrities and top pros (any Blogilates fans here?) will take place at the Bayfront Event Space. Join workout trials for fitness junkies of all ages – they even have a Kids Gym with basketball, soccer, tennis and badminton classes! Discover and learn about living well at health and nutrition talks and workshops at the Healthy Living Show. A Tropical Chorus: Songs from Singapore and Beyond

Catch this tribute to the richly diverse choral music scene in Singapore coupled with international heritage, with songs by prominent local composers including Leong Yoon Pin. The programme also celebrates the shared choral music and culture between APAC nations with songs by composers originating from Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. The concert features the chorus of more than 90 singers and pianist Francesca Lee, conducted by Artistic Director Chong Wai Lun.

How much: $30 standard, $20 concession. Following the performance will be refreshments of wine, soft drinks and light snacks.
