Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden is now bigger and better with a flying fox, canopy bridge, wheelchair trampoline, veggie farm and kids cafe, Little Spot!

In fall 2017 Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden opened its doors to a new wing of the extended garden and can we just say how amazing it is?! It’s always been one of our favourite parks and with its new two-hectare extension doubling its size, Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden is now officially the largest children’s garden in Asia!

We love how NParks has woven in different ecosystems, textures (different paths, bridges, bumpy gravel, smooth wood), adventure, fun and art (huge bird sculptures) within the new gardens – plus there is plenty to learn and experience making this one amazing outdoor classroom for wildschooling!

In addition to the original faves of sandpit, herb garden, maze and tree house with slides, the new extension sees a cute cafe, Little Spot (formerly Food for Thought) complete with colouring pencils and a little play area (play equipment off limits here during pandemic sadly).

There’s the ‘farm’ which is a plot with loads of veggies growing from pumpkins to luffas and winged beans plus workshops for hands-on activities and learning about ecosystems. There’s a flying fox (whoop!) and a cool raised canopy walkway protected by netting plus more treehouses, a wheelchair friendly trampoline.
NB While most of the playground is open, the Flying Fox, Photosynthesis Play and the Water Play areas are all closed during the pandemic until further notice.

When Food for Thought café in the Botanics with their outdoor play area closed – you cried, we cried. Good news though, they are back – this time it’s called Little Spot and it’s located at the all-new, revamped Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden.
