Hair cuts (and pampering) for kids in Singapore!

Your little one’s hair is looking a bit wild and a haircut is definitely in order – but where to send the munchkin? Luckily for you we’ve come up with our best ideas for where to get junior’s hair trimmed and chopped (we’ve even thrown in some ideas for tween and teeen pampering) so that they’ll end up looking more fab than drab (no bowl cuts around here!). Snip snip!

Curly & Spike

This cute little salon will take the pain out of taking your littles for a haircut (wriggly tots can watch a movie to keep them distracted) — if it’s their first haircut ever, they’ll even present you with a special certificate and lock of their hair. They also do pampering parties (think mani-pedis and “makeovers” for minis) guaranteed to be a huge hit with tweens!

Trimmings

A loyal favourite amongst many expats and for good reason! Their trained hairdressers have a stack of experience in cutting Caucasian hair and are super-patient with littlies. An all-in-one hair salon (cuts, colours, blow outs, hair treatments – they do it all), mini princesses can also be treated to a junior mani or pedi, up-do or make over. Mamas looking for a fun afternoon with their daughters can book in for tandem mani-pedis.

Little Red Dot

It’s walk-ins only at this super-popular little salon for kids. We can’t say the results are always exactly what you’re looking for, but seeing as we’ve had one too many accidents when trying to cut little wrigglers’ tresses with nail scissors, we’ll take what we can get! Kiddos will put up with sitting still once they know they’ll be given a lollipop at the end, and if the wait is long there are some little ride-on cars outside the salon to keep them occupied.

Glamour Kiddies

A one-stop hair salon perfect for the whole fam? We’re listening mama. Book the wee ones in for a trim and have your own tresses tended too at the same time. Child-sized chairs, videos on demand (you can even bring along the kiddo’s fave show) and quiet shavers complete the offerings for littlies, while their mani pedis will keep mama’s nails looking fine (because it’s not always just about the kiddies!). They also do themed kids’ birthday parties and fashion shows for mini divas.

Blow + Bar

If your child is not a huge fan of getting their hair cut, then this new salon on Robertson Quay will be a welcome saviour for frazzled mamas. Enjoy a sneaky glass of complimentary wine while the kiddos get their locks chopped (the little ones get a juice!) or book in for a mama daughter side-by-side mani pedi. They also offer princess braids for little misses in addition to their hair and nail services. Stylin’!

Poika & Tytar

Designed to be the most fun a child can have whilst getting their hair cut, toddlers (and let’s face it older kids too) will love getting to sit in a train, a plane or a car while as the hairdressers get to work taming those runaway locks. We’ve heard some mixed reports from mamas-in-the-know, but even so we don’t know many kids who wouldn’t love a visit to this child-centric hair salon. Bonus? Its PasarBella location makes it perfect for a spot of grocery shopping post-cut.

Junior League

Not the flashiest of hair salons by any stretch of the imagination (we’re talking about the little hair dressing area after the check outs at Toys R Us…) but these guys have been keeping kids entertained and their hair under control for years. Masters of the buzz cut (we’ve seen little ones less than 12 months old getting their heads shaved here) and with movies to keep wriggly tots still, junior will love the washout spray-on hair dyes.

Nails D’vine

A family-oriented and rather luxurious nail spa located in the lush surrounds of Dempsey Hill, book yourself and your tweens in for a side-by-side mani pedi and take in the relaxing atmosphere. Little ones hankering not to be left at home can be bribed kept quiet with a play session in the children’s corner; there’s a small train table and tv for the mini munchkins, and we’re sure with a promise of a slice of cake at nearby Jones the Grocer they’ll keep quiet!

Baby Spa

Specialising in haircuts for newborns and kids up to 6 years old, tinies can sit in a plane, a car or a truck and watch a DVD whilst getting their baby hair trimmed (were we the only ones who shed a tear at baby’s first haircut?). This popular baby spa also offers baby massage by qualified physiotherapists and baby swimming via the BabySPA system (young babies float in tubs of warm water with an inflatable ring around their necks – sounds and looks bizarre but supposed to be very relaxing for babes!).

Four Seasons Spa

Treat your teens to a super special sesh at this fab spa and you’ll have them doing the dishes for weeks (bribery at its best!). With a menu of specially designed teen treatments – including a fresh fruit smoothie to finish – your teens will have glowing faces and super-soft hands (or feet) in no time at all. They can even mix their own massage oil for use in their full-body massage! Boys aren’t forgotten here either with the Boys to Men massages. Nice!

This is pretty genius for multi-tasking mamas… You can now have your nails tended to whilst the kids run wild at Go Go Bambini. With a new nail salon located within the play centre there’s no better excuse for a bit of self-pampering (an express manicure will have your nails back on track for only $12 – bam!) during a marathon play session.
