These are Valentine’s Day 101: is it ever a bad time to receive flowers, or sip on some bubbly? Be sure to check out our guide to Singapore wine shops & websites if you want to go the DIY route (and get a great deal in the process!).
Got a soft spot for blooms, mama? Send our list of fave florists in Singapore on over to the hubs and hint at him for a beautiful bouquet. A few are even offering exclusive discounts just for Sassy Mama readers! Whether you’re a traditional roses gal or prefer something a little different like hyacinths or hydrangeas, there is a size, style and price point to suit every taste. We’ve even found bouquets that start from as little as $21!
And if you’re keen to combine the two, we’re hearing great things about the Nyetimber Secret Garden, a pop-up that’s transformed the terrace of 1880 into a whimsical secret garden inspired by the English countryside. Think lush, cascading florals, twinkling fairy lights, and an abundant supply of Nyetimber Sparkling Rosé (click here to read more about this English vintage!). There’s also a special pairing menu of small plates, perfect for nibbling on while you stare lovingly into your partner’s eyes.
Nyetimber Secret Garden is on through 29 February 2020 at 1880, 1 Nanson Road, Level 3, Singapore 238909
Being encouraged to eat chocolate may be our favorite aspect of Valentine’s Day — we love that at local chocolate shop The Dark Gallery you can personalize your gift by designing your own chocolate bar, including choosing your own Single Origin Chocolate, along with toppings, colors, and even a message for the label. For $39 you’ll receive two bars with the same designs.
You can also design your own personalized wrapper with local artisanal chocolatier Fossa — although there’s a minimum order of 50 chocolate bars required. Challenge accepted!
Elsewhere on the chocolate circuit, Singapore’s rockstar confectioner Janice Wong has come out with a slew of tantalizing Valentine’s Day specials, including XOXO Chocolates ($38, pictured at the start of the article) that come in a box of nine with various heart and lips shapes in flavors like Love (rose filling), Harmony (lemon and basil) and Indulgence (Bailey’s Salted Caramel). She’s also offering a special Valentine’s Day set with local brand Candles of Light ($55), and has come out with a limited-edition Rose Raspberry dark chocolate bar, hand-crafted with a splash of red and packaged with a Valentine’s Day greeting card.
Obviously this is a present for both of you!
We love that our little island is filled with homegrown lingerie designers, including Perk by Kate (who have their own lovely little lingerie studio at Telok Ayer), Susy + Bae (delicate and feminine), and the playful, size-inclusive I’M IN, which designs everything from comfy loungewear to sensual lingerie right here in Singapore.
Of course you can also find global brands like La Perla (at Marina Bay Sands and Takashimaya) and Victoria’s Secret (Mandarin Gallery), and for something totally unique, be sure to check out the online lingerie emporium Avec Amour, which carries everything from comfy PJs to bondage couture. Click here to learn more about its founder, a Singapore-based mama of 3!
If you’re looking for something to spice things up in the bedroom, this one’s gonna bring a smile to your face. Say goodbye to tacky, offensive intimate toys and say hello to the chic range of Smile Makers vibrators! Founded after a disappointing trip to a local sex shop, the Smile Makers team created the brand out of a need to fill a gap in the market for respectful sexual wellbeing products. Along with their line of vibrators, the brand also carries all-natural lubricants (only five ingredients max!) in different levels of thickness – enjoyable with or without vibrators.
Is there ever really a bad time to take a staycation? Nope! Romantic setting (completely devoid of kid stuff), nice dinner, a bottle of wine…it all adds up to a chance to simply look at each other for once and enjoy each other’s company.
At the St. Regis Singapore the Spa Getaway package (from $470++ per room per night) includes daily breakfast, a customised 60-minute spa treatment for two people, and other spa privileges. At Sofitel City Centre, the Romantic Escape package (from $348++) includes accommodation, breakfast, a sumptuous set dinner for two, and late checkout til 6pm. Find even more staycation inspiration here!
If you can’t get away for a whole night to do a staycation, why not book in for a couple’s massage? In our experience, there’s no place in Singapore that feels further away from Singapore than ESPA on Sentosa. With onsen baths, a forest outlook, and even a tranquil pond, it just feels a million miles removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. And they have designated suites and villas with special couple’s treatment rooms!
Some of our other fave spas include Auriga Spa at Capella and Aramsa Garden Spa in Bishan Park. Lush Spa at the Polo Club even has a “Spa for 2” menu! All of the above also featured in our roundup of fave facials in Singapore!
