Dreamers Shaw Theatres Balestier opens with free-seating beanbags for kids, there’s a new playspace Chaos Lab with immersive science fun, plus, Nintendo to open its first pop-up store in Singapore!

Here’s welcoming another month of exciting new happenings! Staycations are definitely in the plans for us this year end, because Mandarin Oriental has reopened after a 6-month transformation, and Pullman Singapore has opened its highly anticipated Hill Street extension! Also, new heritage hotel 21 Carpenter is slated to open this quarter. Plus we absolutely love IKEA’s new space-themed collection too, is it time for a room makeover? P.S. two new playspaces open, and Nintendo’s very first pop-up store is giving us all the nostalgic feels!

Nintendo Pop-up Store at Jewel

Fans of Nintendo, mark your calendars because the brand that brought you Super Mario and Animal Crossing is opening its very first pop-up store in Singapore at Jewel Changi Airport! It’ll also be the first time that merchandise of these games and more will be available to fans outside of Nintendo’s Japan stores in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Get your wallets ready because you’ll definitely want to purchase these adorable Super Mario tableware, tumblers, tote bags, and apparel featuring different game characters. The pop-up is happening from 17 November 2023 to 1 January 2024, and shoppers who spend a minimum of $80 in a single transaction will receive 1 of 6 limited-edition Singapore-themed postcards while stocks last! Wacky Chaos Lab: Slime, Ball Pits and Neon Paint!

Promising an immersive and exciting experience for parents and kids, Chaos Lab finally arrives in Singapore in November 2023 at Changi Airport Terminal 2, featuring a one-of-a-kind, lab-themed indoor playspace! Following its success in Melbourne and Sydney, Chaos Lab Singapore will feature 11 interactive activity stations revolving around science themes and theories to ignite imagination and adventure amongst our little Einsteins! Play with illuminating AR Sand, build sand sculptures and watch them light up with layers of colours thanks to a motion sensor projector! ⁠⁠Get messy at the Slime Station to make your own take-home slime and then jump around the Bubbling Ball Pit.⁠ There will also be new installations introduced for the Singapore edition – the Dr Splat’s Chaos Lab and Pneumatic Pressure Pipes segments, where guests will be greeted with immersive light reflective murals and will also get to hone their quick reflexes by catching aerially transported balls! New Kid-friendly Shaw Theatre Dreamers at Balestier

We’re so excited for the new kid-friendly theatre at Dreamers Shaw Theatres Balestier that opens 4 October! They opened their first kid-friendly theatre in Shaw Theatres Jewel, and it was a huge hit with parents of active young kids. Dreamers Shaw Theatres Balestier will be Singapore’s first free-seating cinema hall with beanbag loungers instead of theatre seats. Featuring a ball pit and plenty of toys to keep the kids occupied, parents can enjoy their movie while the kids hop on and off their seats. With ambience lighting and a lowered movie volume, this kid-friendly movie experience is perfect for a fun family bonding time. Until Dec 10, ticket prices for movies at Dreamers at Shaw Theatres Balestier are discounted. Adults get $3 off regular ticket prices while children above 90cm and below 13 years old receive $2 off regular children’s ticket prices. Find out how to get free cinema tickets for kids here.

Harry Potter Theme Park Coming to Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi

Potterheads, we have some exciting news! A brand new Harry Potter theme park is set to open in  Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi! Gear up for a magical experience that will “bring Harry Potter to fans like never before”. While details are still limited for now, we’re incredibly eager to know how this new instalment will differ from the already popular Harry Potter attractions around the globe. Surf, Skate, Snowboard and Ski at Trifecta

Heads up! There’s a new adventure ‘playground’ for kids (and adults!) opening on 28 October, where you’ll get to surf, skate, snowboard and ski. Located in the heart of Singapore next to Somerset Skate Park on Orchard Road, Trifecta is a huge sports venue that will feature high-tech, state-of-the-art machines that guarantee a memorable day out for the whole family. Snowboard and ski with the virtual reality ski simulator machines, or surf at Asia’s largest and deepest standing wave pool with waves as high as 1.5m! IKEA’s New Space-themed AFTONSPARV Collection

IKEA launches a new space-themed AFTONSPARV collection for little adventurers! Do you have a little dreamer who wants to be an astronaut? Kids can hop into the 135-cm tall rocket-shaped cardboard tent ($29.90) and embark on an adventure to outer space. Pick up adorable alien plushies and astronaut soft toys to accompany them for the ride or marvel at the stories they create with the five-piece space-themed finger puppet set ($10). There’s also an AFTONSPARV space rug ($49.90), glow-in-the-dark starry night tie-back AFTONSPARV curtains ($39.90 per pair) and KURA bed tent ($49.90). Christina’s is a low-lit cocktail bar and dining space nestled on the ground floor of the new hotel Mondrian Singapore, in Duxton. A striking art installation ‘Crystalized,’ hangs from the ceiling forming a part of the Mondrian Singapore Duxton’s permanent art collection. The menu offers tapas-style bites as well as a few heartier mains from Bulgogi Burger ($28) to Shio Koji-cured Wagyu Bavette Steak ($30). On Fridays and Saturdays, there’s a live DJ spinning energetic beats (for a more intimate tete-a-tete conversation you’ll need to swing by midweek). Many pop in for pre-dinner drinks and then head to the modern Italian restaurant Bottega di Carna upstairs. Or you can settle in for the night with the 2hr $88++ offer of free-flow wine and tapas bites like Parma Ham Bruschetta and Crispy Chilli Crab Bonbons.

Mandarin Oriental reopens after a revamp

Just in time for year-end festivities, Mandarin Oriental Singapore has unveiled a whole new look following its renovation, after it closed its doors in March earlier this year. The 510-room property now features modern interiors across its rooms, lobbies and F&B spaces, all cohesive with elements that are “Exceptionally Singapore”, so guests can expect stylish Peranakan influence (think batik!), vibrant greenery and more. Tipsy Unicorn Beach Club at Siloso is a new beach club with a 19,000 sqft space with indoor and outdoor areas, private cabanas, daybeds and VIP lounges. The main pool features a stage for performances (making this the only beach club in Sentosa to feature live bands), sunken pool cabanas and an ocean-view main bar area. It seems one mainly for adults as Tipsy Unicorn aims to provide its signature Tipsy experience featuring curated entertainment acts, fitness, and fun activities beyond just live bands and a beautiful beach setting. The World Of Nickelodeon Playspace

NEW: The World Of Nickelodeon Playspace

There’s a new pop-up indoor playspace ‘The World of Nickelodeon’ at Let’s Play @ Marina Square. Look out for immersive exploration themed around Nickelodeon characters with multiple bouncy castles and ball pits. Kids can put out fires with water guns like Marshall or drive an excavator like Rubble. Have a go on the TMNT Ninja Training obstacle course, make bubbles powered by bicycles at the SpongeBob Games Zone and play with playdough at Dora’s Colouring Hub. Plus look out for meet-and-greets with characters like the Paw Patrol pups! Fun for ages 2-6, but ages 3-5 will get the most out of it. Tickets are from $28.
