We count down the best spots for kids’ haircuts in Singapore, because we know discerning mamas won’t trust just anybody with their little ones’ locks!
Has your toddler reached the point where they can’t see through unruly bangs? Or perhaps your favourite munchkin has developed a bit of a mullet? Or maybe the little one just needs a fresh cut before Chinese New Year!
A child’s first haircut is a momentous occasion, both because we’re saying goodbye to a last vestige of babyhood, and because quite a few kids have been known to freak out just a bit their first time in the barber or stylist’s chair. But not with this collected list of pros across Singapore, who use every trick in the book (including infinite patience) to tame tiny tresses…
Kimage Cove: The Suite is truly an all-in-one salon with services for the whole family. Dads can get their sleek gentlemen’s haircuts at The Bunker and mamas get to kick back and have their tresses pampered, while kiddos can head to The Playground for some playtime once Kimage’s master stylists have completed their haircuts!
Get 50% off haircuts for kids when mamas get their hair done at Kimage Cove! Valid from 20 February to 30 March 2018, by appointment only. Book an appointment via email at [email protected] and make sure to quote SassyMama!

Curly & Spike
This totally stylish kids-only salon in River Valley will take the pain out of taking your littles for a haircut (wriggly tots can watch a movie or play a video game to keep distracted), not to mention little ones receiving their first haircut will even be presented with a special certificate. Curly & Spike also does pampering theme parties for children aged 4 – 16 (think mani-pedis and “makeovers” for minis). Packages include invitations, photo shoots, karaoke, catwalks and more – they’ll be a major hit with tweens!
Mamas keeping to the Chinese tradition of getting bub a haircut after their first month will appreciate Huaxia Taimaobi’s experienced and professional ladies who specialise in this ceremonial head shaving (they’ll even come to you!) – they’ve shaved the heads of over 68,000 babies, and are super popular among local actors, actress, singers and celebrities who look for this service for their kids. Using fully sterilised shavers designed just for bubs’ heads, Huaxia Taimaobi then makes keepsake calligraphy paintbrushes out of those precious first locks. They are the only company in Singapore to do so, in fact!

Specialising in haircuts for newborns and toddlers up to 2 years old, Baby Spa lets tinies sit in a plane, a car or a truck and watch a DVD whilst getting their baby hair trimmed (were we the only ones who shed a tear at baby’s first haircut?). They also offer a home visit option. This popular spot also offers baby massage by qualified physiotherapists and baby swimming via the BabySPA system — the perfect way to teach your mini about the value of a good, relaxing spa day from the start!

EC House Kids’ Corner
With eight locations across the island (check their website to see exactly how many “kiddy rides” are available at each spot), this ultra-efficient hair cuttery is perfectly geared toward squirmy young’uns with quick haircuts. Best of all, they come at just 10 bucks a pop! (NB: Every EC House stylist is trained to give kids’ haircuts, but only eight have dedicated “kids’ corners”).

Expat Hair Studio
We already know mamas love this stylish studio in Joo Chiat that seems to be constantly expanding their team to meet burgeoning demand. No car or train seats here, but you can bond with your mini-me while getting your hair done together, and perhaps reward their patience with a go at the playground across the street at I12 Katong.

Little Red Dot
It’s walk-ins only at this super-popular little salon for kids that provides a certificate to commemorate their first haircut. We can’t say the results are always exactly what you’re looking for, but seeing as we’ve had one too many accidents when trying to cut little wrigglers’ tresses with nail scissors, we’ll take what we can get! Kiddos will put up with sitting still once they know they’ll be given a lollipop at the end, and if the wait is long there are some little ride-on cars outside the salon to keep them occupied.
Little Red Dot, Forum Shopping Mall, #02-35, 583 Orchard Road, Singapore 238884

Kids ‘n’ Me
Originally located in Katong V Mall, Kids ‘n’ Me has developed quite the following thanks to “Auntie Amy”‘s stellar skills. Now, you can find the salon at the United Square where kiddos can play with toys or watch cartoons while hairstylists do the chop.
Kids ‘n’ Me, 101 Thomson Road, #01-40 United Square, Singapore 307591
One Cut Above KIDS
Got yourself a stylish little one? One Cut Above KIDS provides trendy haircuts and styling for boys and girls (with a salon for mamas and dads just next door!). Littlies can get comfy in specially made children’s chairs, check out the dedicated play area and admire the dinosaur theme decoration.
One Cut Above Kids, 30 East Coast Rd, #02-06 Katong V, Singapore 428751, Tel: (+65) 6348 1136
Papa Poika means “father and son” in Finnish, and the concept aims to evoke nostalgia – an experience where every boy remembers his first trip to the barbershop with his dad. Cute, eh?! Kiddos will be whisked away to the dedicated kids’ corner to get their own pamper haircuts and then play in Papa Poika’s well equipped kids’ area, while dads can expect a full bevy of personal services, including hairwash, haircuts, a full beard shave, as well as neck and shoulder massages. Can’t lie, mama’s jealous…

Scissors Paper Stone
Walking by this super-kid-friendly mini chain, you might almost mistake it for a small indoor play space rather than a salon what with their fun chairs (cars, rocket ships, etc.), ultra-colourful walls and sideline activities (arts & crafts! Balloons!). When that all fails, kids also get iPads to distract them during the haircut itself. Scissors Paper Stone is a popular choice among East Coast mamas, but they’ve also got handy locations at Suntec City and right next to Toys ‘R’ Us at the Forum (we hear Soon Lee at the Suntec branch is the woman to see). Bonus points for offering fancy hairstyles on top of your basic cuts!

Look through their service menu for a variety of options, including party packages for kiddos starting at just $38/pax.
