Play with Mozart: Marvelous Music Appreciation for Munchkins

PlayPost Category - PlayPlay - Post Category - IndoorIndoor

Want to introduce your little one to the joys of Mozart without the stress and stuffiness of a traditional music hall? We’re loving this new music series geared toward babies and toddlers aged 0-5!

Mamas, a couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting with Katya Shmulevich, the Owner and Founder of Play with Mozart, Singapore. Over a cuppa, I learnt that Katya loves classical music and strongly believes that listening to it is very important and beneficial for little ones, even newborns. In fact, she says there is a lot of scientific research to prove that listening to classical music can make a baby healthier, smarter and happier (what are you waiting for Mamas? You know where you should be heading out to their next outing with your bub)!

When Katya and her family moved to Singapore she was looking for regular live classical music events she could attend along with her little daughter but unfortunately found there was nothing age-appropriate. She decided to take matters into her own hands and start something herself… and this is how Play with Mozart was born.

Play with Mozart is now the critically acclaimed concert series for babies, toddlers and parents. The target audience for these concerts is really kids aged 0-5 and their elder siblings, as this is the age mostly not catered to by traditional concert halls. The music is carefully chosen to appeal to both babies and adults and performed by professional musicians, ranging from harpists and sopranos to trumpeters and string trios.

During the concerts children can dance, roam around and listen to music exactly how they they feel like it. They can feed, get right up to the performers or have a crawl around (even crawl under the piano)! and interact with each other. The concerts are designed so that children can just be themselves, relax and do what they do best… be carefree little souls!

I’ve been meaning to catch one of these concerts with my little ones for a while but somehow between naptimes and birthday parties we haven’t been as yet. Rest assured Mamas, it’s high on my list!
