With kids-eat-free deals, to Singapore’s tallest slide, to shops that stay open around the clock, get ready to have your next playdate at Changi Airport, mama!

Everybody knows Changi Airport is the World’s Best Airport: with everything from a butterfly garden to a movie theatre, not to mention topnotch shopping and dining, it’s a pure pleasure to fly into and out of. But did you know, mama, that Changi is a fab place to take kids even when you’re not traveling?

With super easy transport links via both the SMRT and the 36 bus, Changi is a breeze to get to, and even without a ticket you can do everything from shop for groceries at Fairprice to learn about Singapore landmarks at free colouring stations. And of course kiddos adore The Slide @ T3 and plane spotting at the Aviation Gallery.

Check out nine reasons why Changi is a must for families even when you’re not going out of town!

Kid-Friendly Dining

Besides go-to faves like Burger King, McDonald’s, Nandos and PastaMania, you can find sweet treats at Krispy Kreme, Swensen’s, and Milk & Honey Artisan Yogurt and Dessert Bar; sandwiches at Subway and ABC Boulangerie; and yummy noodles and dumplings at Ramen Champion or Paradise Dynasty. Not to mention plenty of caffeine fixes for mamas at Starbucks and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

There are nearly 50 restaurants to choose from in Changi’s public areas, mama — many of them open 24 hours, and all of them with baby chairs or high chairs! Simply click here to see the full list and select “Public” in the Location drop-down!

Run all Your Errands in One Go

Besides Fairprice supermarkets in both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 (open all the way til 11pm, too!), you can also pick up prescriptions at the pharmacy, mail packages from the Terminal 2 post office, even see a doctor at one of the two Raffles Medical clinics!

Singapore’s Tallest Slide

If your kiddo likes playgrounds, then they simply cannot miss The Slide @ T3, which at 12 metres (4 storeys!) high is the tallest slide in Singapore and the world’s tallest slide in an airport!

Kiddos can take up to 10 rides in one day; for every $10 spent at Changi Airport in a single same day receipt (excluding money changing facilities, medical clinics, top-up card and Crowne Plaza Hotel receipts), visitors can redeem one ride at the Terminal 3, Level 1 Information Counter. We’re super keen, too! Just note that children must be at least 1.3 metres tall (and the maximum height allowed is 2.0 metres – sorry, super tall Dads!).

P.S. We love that The Slide is open to the public, but just in case you find yourself looking for a playground during your travels, you’ll find fab ones in each terminal’s transit lounge!

Make Art in the Unlikeliest of Places

On a recent stroll through the Terminal 3 shops we were delighted to discover free crayons and colouring paper just across from The Slide. These are actually Art Rubbing Stations where kiddos can create their own imprints of icons inspired by Singapore culture and Changi Airport. You’ll find stations in the public areas of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 (with another one in Terminal 2’s transit area).

Shops Galore

Has your little one been particularly angelic and deserves a reward? You’ll find both sweet shops and toy stores in Terminal 3, along with the super fun SingKids indoor playground and Zone X Arcade for older kids. Plus there are plenty of fashion options for kids and mamas alike just in case you want to treat yourself (we know you deserve it)!

Plane Spotting

Little kids loooooove airplanes, it’s just a fact. Even if you’re not taking a trip anywhere, it’s still easy to kill an hour or two watching planes take off and land at the Changi Aviation Gallery in Terminal 3! Our kids also love checking out the two model airplane displays. Bonus: kiddos up bright and early on a Sunday morning? The Aviation Gallery opens at 6am!

Duty Free Perks, Free Parking and Exclusive Savings

If you sign up for Changi Rewards, you not only save 7% GST at participating stores in all the airport’s public areas, but you’ll also earn points that can be converted to KrisFlyer Miles!

Plus, in a landmark new partnership with MasterCard® that was just announced this week, you can enjoy exclusive privileges like up to 20% savings at participating outlets throughout the airport, a weekend late night shopping promotion that can be redeemed for S.E.A. Aquarium tickets, and FREE weekday parking during lunch and dinner with a $25 spend!

Extra Fun During School Holidays

There’s always something fun going on during school holidays! Be sure to follow Changi Airport on Facebook for the latest updates on fun-filled activities for families and kids coming up this June, mama!

Plenty of Baby Care Rooms

What’s more frustrating than going out to run errands or take the kids out to play than discovering there’s nowhere to feed the baby or change a diaper?! Clearly there are plenty of mamas running Changi Airport because Baby Care Rooms are never far away! There are whopping 16 within Terminal 3 (four of them in public areas!), each with a hot water dispenser and comfortable, private seating.

There you have it, mama! If you can’t find months’ worth of fun for the kiddos at Changi Airport, it might be time to…well…get out of town!
