What to do in Singapore with Teenagers: Fun Adventures for Tweens and Teens

With teenagers or tweens in tow, you can afford them more freedom with independent outings than you probably would if it weren’t for how safe our island is.

If you’re looking for some inspiration to keep your teens busy in Singers, here’s our list of fun adventures that are great for teenagers – whether that’s with their friends or with you!

Wild Wild Wet
A Sassy Mama favourite, this super fun water park in Pasir Ris has varying levels of thrill factor. Small enough for even your tweens not to get lost, but substantial enough for them to have a splashing good time. Parents (if you get invited that is!) will love the Ular-lah (raft slide) and adrenaline junkies will go crazy for Slide Up!

Universal Studios and Adventure Cove
Located on Sentosa, both theme parks are run by Resorts World and can easily fill a whole day out. The Transformers Ride as well as the Battlestar Galactica ride were firm favourites when we were Universal Studios season pass holders (and practically lived there!), whilst Riptide Rocket and exploring the Rainbow Reef had us lining up again and again at Adventure Cove.

Forest Adventure’s Grand Course has 50 obstacles including trapezes, bridges and the not-to-be-underestimated “leap of faith” plus four scream-inducing zip lines that will have your teenagers flying over the Bedok Reservoir!

Not enough of a challenge? Then check out Megazip Adventure Park, home to the Megazip – the 75-metre high, 450-metre long, 50 km/ph flying fox that will give you the flight of your life! It’s also home to Climb Max, the 3 level, 40-foot-high adventure course (it’s thrills without spills); the Parajump, it only requires a 50-foot leap of faith; or the North Face, one of the highest climbing walls in Singapore!

If that is still not enough, defy gravity at iFly on the Sentosa Beachfront; it’s one of the best things we took the girls to when we first arrived here. Having done something similar whilst living in London, we were keen to experience the simulated skydive in the flight chamber again. Definitely not for the sensitive, it gets loud and windy in there and you have to have your wits about you to not lose control!

Wakeboarding
There are two ways to do this. For cable skiing and wakeboarding, head to SKI360 — Singapore’s first and only cable-ski park. My MOTH (Man Of The House) and my TOTH (Teenager Of The House) both had a great time bonding over spills and thrills as they were pulled along this East Coast lagoon by a suspended motorised cable. If you prefer more of a challenge, have a look online at the myriad of wakeboarding operators who will happily tow you from their speedboat. Departures are normally from Punggol Marina Country Club. Home to numerous wakeboarding schools, it’s Singapore’s largest wakeboarding hub.

Wave House Sentosa
Located on Siloso Beach, sheet waves pump water at high speed over stationary curved walls to generate barrelling smooth waves – perfect conditions for both novices or expert surfers and boogie boarders! And the best news? If you live in Singapore and hold an NRIC, Workers Pass, Dependant Pass or Student Pass, you get 1-for-1 waves, plus food and drinks on Wednesdays! Do I hear a high-5 or a hang-10?

If you have a teenager who is keen to improve their marksmanship, there is much to choose from here in Singapore. From paintballing at ORTO in Yishun, to archery in Punggol, sports shooting at Altius Global Indoor Air Weapon Range, to laser clay shooting, combat skirmish, and even archery tag – the choice is yours (or theirs!).

Iceskating
There are two real ice skating rinks in Singapore – the Kallang Leisure Park on the East Coast and JCube in Jurong. Kallang Ice World hosts special seasonal events, whilst The Rink is the place to late night skate on Friday and Saturday evenings for Disco Night.

Skateboarding
There are quite a few skate parks scattered across the Lion City. Here’s a comprehensive list, courtesy of our resident sk8er boi:

Go-Karting
Have yourself a budding Senna? Let him or her hone their skills at The Karting Arena, Maximum Drift Karting Arena or KF1. Fun!

If your teens are still keen for some more action, then get them climbing at The Rock School, or they could also perfect their mid-air twists at AMPED Trampoline Park — Singapore’s first indoor trampoline park; have a get-together with friends (BYO food and drinks) on Tanjong Beach. It’ll be all sweat and (hopefully) no tears!

SCAPE is a great spot for youths and with their youth-oriented programmes that include music and dance, urban sports and visual art, there’s plenty of offerings here for teens. Their interest groups currently include handball, skateboarding, floorball, cheerleading, graffiti art, and photography – head to the website for more deets.

Far East Plaza at 14 Scotts Road is a beacon for teenagers due to the pocket friendly prices and the number of fashion ‘blog boutiques’ that offer the latest fads. A familiar haunt of mine from teenage years, I’ve now passed the baton on to my teenager who loves scouring the shops for unique finds.

Orchard Cineleisure is home to Cathay Cineplex as well as a host of funky shops whose target audience are teenagers and young adults. Load up on affordable accessories at Beadstreet on L2 while KBox on L8 attracts the next generation of wannabe popstars. There’s lots of food available to fuel up on, including sushi belt dining at Nihon Mura Express (in the basement) – it’s super wallet friendly at $1.50 per plate!

Movies are also a favourite with teens – especially if they are going with friends! Normally located within major shopping malls, the ones at VivoCity, Great World City, Plaza Singapura, Orchard Cineleisure and The Cathay are all super popular.

A little note: This list is generally suitable for the 15 and under or the “young at heart” as the older teenagers who saw this list complained we missed mentioning the “other” hangouts that involve more grown-up shenanigans  – but that’s ANOTHER story, mama!
