We don’t generally dedicate a huge amount of column space to Mother’s Day here at Sassy Mama, as we’re kind of believers that your husband/partner and kids should be taking care of all the arrangements so that you can put your feet up and have a fabulous day! We all know though that sometimes mama might be dreaming of some more quality “pampering” time than a sticky kiss on the cheek and some burnt toast served up in bed (as much as we love the gesture!)… So, this year we’re taking matters into our own hands and sharing how our fantasy dream day would go!

Rika — our straight-talking mama-of-two (and all round lovely lady!)

For me the ultimate luxury is waking up to a nice breakfast in bed — my fave especially, a bagel with cream cheese and a hot cup of coffee! While I tend to prefer a quick shot of caffeine by my beloved Starbucks, you can also order bagels online at NYC Bagel Factory — delish! Although I’m not sure my kids and hubby would be that organised…

After brekky, I’d definitely take the opportunity to sneak away to Buff and Rubz for a quiet mani/pedi, followed by a visit to Blow + Bar for a blowout and a glass of champagne — no kids allowed! For dinner I’d pretend I am young and hip again (ha!) by settling in for a bit of people watching, while I get my Mexican food and cocktail fix at Lucha Loco.

Hester — our super busy mama-of-two and jack-of-all-trades!

I’d kick off the day with a yoga class at my new favourite yoga centre, Space and Light Studios in Phoenix Park — they do a sunrise yoga class which is just amazing. It totally makes the rest of your day go wonderfully when you start it by bouncing out of bed instead of waiting to be dragged out of it by the kiddos!

I’d follow up with a massage at Healing Touch on Alexandra Road which I’ve just discovered (thanks to Rika’s recommendation actually!). It’s not fancy but their masseuses are good and it hits the spot! I’d like to finish up with a lengthy hangout at Tanjong Beach Club with the kiddos munching on some of their truffle fries and sipping on a fresh coconut juice. The perfect lazy day for me!

Kristin — our brand new mama who’s busy putting all our recos to the test!

Celebrating Mother’s Day in my family was always done with a Sunday brunch and some pressies for mum! So I would love to keep that going with my new family of three. Sunday brunch at Rider’s Cafe would be a great start and so would some beautiful flowers from Fabulation to really make my day. The pampering present I am really hoping for this year however is a Yummy Mummy package from Body Temple to help me get my pre-pregnant belly shape back!

Sarah — our Sassy Mama Editor who balances a laptop in one hand and a preschooler in the other!

The perfect day just for me would definitely have to start with a big sleep in (past 7am!), a cup of tea when I get up, followed by a plate of amazing homemade pancakes made by my family (wishful thinking?). I’d then skip down to the pool for a bit of a swim followed by some quiet time with a good book. After all that pool lounging, I’d be so relaxed I’d probably invite the family along to a lazy Sunday brunch at The Green Door at Dempsey Hill, where I’d sneak in a glass or two of bubbly…

Post-lunch I’d bundle myself into a taxi and take myself over to Kampong Glam to peruse the quaint boutiques dotted along Haji Lane, Arab Street and surrounds, picking up purchases along the way, before settling in for an evening cocktail with my best mama buddies at Maison Ikkoku where we’d discuss the trials and tribulations of mamahood… ahhh!

Even though I don’t have any kids to take care of, sometimes I just need a couple of hours away from the madness of my two dogs and of course, husband. I’m a huge fan of massages, not just for some essential downtime, but as a sufferer of a bad back, a massage has got to be functional as well as fabulous for me. So, whenever I get a couple of hours to myself, I head off to FootWorks in Rochester Mall. Manned by a team of tough and capable masseurs, their 30-minute reflexology, 30-minute neck and shoulder combo really puts the world right again. It might not be a tranquil zen like spa setting, but if you genuinely want to leave feeling better than when you arrived – this is the spot.

Then, because no pamper day is complete without a little retail therapy, I would head down to Far East Plaza. A veritable treasure trove of unique goodies, the third and fourth floors are generally the best, and far better with European sizing (as the goods come from Korea, sizes in Far East Plaza can be small to say the least). Last but not least, because no perfect day is complete without some food – I’d head down to Frolick at Holland Village for some frozen yogurt before heading home and attempting to hide my new purchases from the dogs, and most importantly, the husband.

Lynn — our mama-to-three, local gal and resident foodie!

This Mother’s Day I’m traveling to Taipei for some serious munching (and relaxing) time! Although I can’t fly too far due to my pregnancy, I’ll be making the 4 to 5 hour trek to Taiwan, where I’ll be staying at The Lalu — a luxury resort that I definitely recommend all mamas make the trip to at least once in their lifetime.

If I weren’t travelling (or pregnant!) I would spend the day chilling with my boys at home, before ending the evening with a very nice glass of red wine with Joselito Jamon, a top grade steak from Japan with a fried organic egg on top, and a bar of good dark chocolate… all eaten in bed of course! I’d also book myself in for a half day spa session at ESPA at Resorts World Sentosa so I could steal away and get a few hours of pampering peace to myself!

If you just happen to leave this page open on your computer just in case someone decides to take inspiration… so much the better! Happy Mother’s Day wonderful mamas!
