Nondescript and certainly not as glamorous as the likes of shopping malls ION or 313@Somerset, Far East Plaza still stands as one of our go-to malls because of the hidden gem shops and crazy cheap salons. Far East Plaza is just around the corner from the iconic Orchard Road, and comprises six floors filled with some 800 fashion-forward, purse-friendly shops! Yes, there are a number of Far East Plaza shops touting knock-off ‘designer’ labels and other questionable items; but in a city that can feel like one big shopping mall, Far East Plaza is the place to check out to avoid the ‘same-same’ fashion. You can even bargain at many of the shops at Far East Plaza! With so many stores though, it’s impossible to cover them all in one go (we ain’t no Far East Plaza directory) so we’ve listed out a couple that stand out, plus our fave places in Far East Plaza for food and all you need to know about Far East Plaza parking.

Bag It (#03-117, Far East Plaza) is a consignment store in Far East Plaza that has its shelves fully stocked with drool-worthy secondhand designer bags and accessories in amazing condition. You’ll even find some vintage designer bags here. See something you like? Make sure you grab it quickly, because items get snapped up like *that* thanks to their quick postings on social media.

Madam Milan (#04-52, Far East Plaza) carries a great range of secondhand luxury bags and accessories from brands like Chanel, Dior, Prada and Celine. Prices here are pretty competitive, but don’t be put off by the high prices of the more popular designer brands. Sift through their collection and you may just find slightly more affordable luxury brands (think Celine, Miu Miu or Bottega Veneta) with lower price tags, all often in fab condition.

There are many tailors in Far East Plaza including Mohan’s Custom Tailors (#02-73 Far East Plaza) which has been around since 1958 and has very decent pricing and Picadilly Tailors (#02-85 Far East Plaza) which has been offering custom tailoring since 1930.

Meng Yee Express Alteration

While there are quite a few alteration and tailoring shops located throughout Far East Plaza, in terms of price and workmanship, the best has to be Meng Yee. Very efficient, the team here really do get it spot on (unlike some other more fancy looking outlets who will remain unnamed!); plus it’s always reasonably priced too! If you need something in a hurry, give the ‘uncle’ the heads-up and a big smile and normally they’re pretty accommodating – within reason of course!

Because of Far East Plaza’s location on Orchard Road, parking is always a thought. Here are the Far East Plaza parking rates so you can plan your trip:

• Monday – Saturday: 8am – 5pm: $1.62 for the first hour Far East Plaza parking; $1.62 for every subsequent ½ hour of Far East Plaza parking. After 5pm: $3.56 per entry.
• Sundays & Public Holidays: $4.10 for first 3 hours or part thereof; $1.62 for subsequent ½ hour or part thereof.
