Looking for an international school with a strong British curriculum and a proven track record of academic excellence?
The Perse School Singapore is a British international school backed by 400 years of history that opened its Singapore campus in January 2020. The school is now accepting Year 1 pupils (turning 5 before 1 September) for its first full school year, academic year 2020 – 2021.
What parents can expect from a Perse education in Year 1
The Perse School Singapore offers a British curriculum for Key Stage 1, which covers children between the ages of 5 and 7. The school’s curriculum closely follows the renowned Cambridge Primary Programme, while also incorporating Singapore Maths and Chinese language. Key Stage 2 (spanning Years 3-6) continues with a scaffolded curriculum that embeds and introduces new concepts.
In Year 1 there’s great emphasis on reading comprehension and phonics skills. Students cover a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, Chinese, Geography, History, Art, Music, PE, Global Perspectives, and Digital Literacy. A core thread throughout is a culture of international mindedness that also promotes respect and encourages empathy and thoughtfulness.
What pupils gain in Year 1 at Perse School Singapore
From the very start, pupils learn to work independently, with a partner, and in small groups. And while there is definitely an emphasis on outstanding academic development, all this is carefully underpinned by supportive pastoral care.
The Perse School focuses on four core values: Intellectual Curiosity, Breadth & Balance, Endeavour, and Respect for One Another and the Environment. Each and every day, teachable moments help pupils build character, empowering them with lifelong independent learning skills as teachers challenge them on a personalised, individualised basis.
