Learn how OWIS guides students through their IB DP education, supports them with strong pastoral care and lifts them up, so they can reach their personal and academic goals!

The second cohort of One World International School’s IB Diploma Programme has really done the school proud. Students have received conditional and unconditional offers from some of the leading universities around the world, such as The University of British Columbia and The University of Toronto in Canada, The University of Manchester, The University of Newcastle, and many others in the UK and Europe, Rutgers University and SUNY in the USA, and The University of Queensland and Monash University in Australia.

These offers are a testament to the rigour and future focus of the IB Diploma curriculum at OWIS, where students hone their critical thinking, writing and research skills through a selection of subjects that is of interest to them and a personalised teaching and learning approach. This prepares students well for not only achieving their desired scores in their assessments in the two-year programme, but also for writing their university applications, and later the independence of embarking on their higher education as young adults.

OWIS offers strong pastoral care

Key to what sets the IB Diploma Programme and the Cambridge IGCSE apart at OWIS, is the strong pastoral care programme at the school. Student well-being is given due attention, and form tutors always keep an open door for students so they can speak about their concerns and be guided to find solutions. Students are able to work on their socio-emotional development in a Secondary School environment that is inclusive, kind and accepting of diversity and different perspectives.

Celebrating IB DP 2022 graduates

The school recently honoured their graduating IB DP batch of 2022 with a school-wide celebration, where the entire community of learners, parents and teachers all got together and applauded them for their hard work at the end of the exams. The graduation ceremony, held at the end of May, was a joyous, sentimental get-together, where the school community gave recognition to the learning journeys of the students and wished them well for the next level of their academic life.

Congratulating the students, Mark Renie, Head of School, said, “These events celebrating our IB DP students were opportunities for us to get together and let them know that we value their accomplishment. We are proud of their resilience, their determination, and their level of effort in the two-year programme. And that’s what we do here – we guide students and we support them. We build a community around them and we lift them up, so that when they reach the culminating challenge of their academic life in school, they know that we are there to ensure they are successful and celebrate their journeys.”
