Fans of Peranakan cuisine will be stoked to know that legendary Peranakan restaurant The Blue Ginger expands from its original Tanjong Pagar location to open a second outlet at Great World. Second-generation owner Teo Shi Kai has kept classic dishes that are so loved but also added lots of exciting new dishes. Look out for delicious salads like the kerabu kacang botol ($11.50) of crunchy green sliced wing beans tossed with dried shrimps and toasted coconut shreds. Beef Rendang ($20) uses stewed beef shin so there’s plenty of texture from meat and cartilage. Also try the Pork Ribs Assam ($20) and the delicately prepared Terong Chilli Goreng ($13), of deep-fried eggplant in a homemade chilli paste.
