Leisure travel from Singapore in 2020 is looking less likely, but here’s something to look forward to: we’ve rounded up ‘book now, pay later’ travel deals from top resorts in Thailand, Bali and beyond!
Even though we were kind of expecting it, our hearts sank when Minister Lawrence Wong recently announced that leisure travel from Singapore will be “unlikely” for the rest of 2020. After all, travel is one of the things we love most about living in Singapore, given that we have so many fabulous destinations right on our doorstep.
While we’ve got plenty of Singapore staycation deals to keep us occupied in the meantime, we can’t help but feel some wanderlust for favourite family travel haunts like Thailand, Bali, and beyond. We all know the travel industry is hurting badly from the global pandemic, and one response from hotels and resorts has been ‘Book now, pay later’ travel deals, which offer travellers some fantastic discounts off rates (along with some pretty flexible cancellation policies). We’ve found offers that are valid well into 2021, and even into 2022! So if you’re keen to plan next year’s school holidays, or you want to get a good deal for Christmas 2021, scroll on, mamas!

Aman has some of the greatest resorts in the world, and it all started right here in Asia at Amanpuri in Phuket (pictured above)! Team Sassy Mama has taken some of our very favourite family holidays to Aman Resorts, including Amanpulo in the Philippines, Amantaka in Laos, and Amansara in Cambodia.

Luxe resort group Four Seasons has two amazing properties in Bali: Jimabaran Bay by the beach, and Sayan in Ubud (pictured above). Both are offering a Family Vacation package that includes 30% off villa rates, daily breakfast, complimentary babysitting, and a kid’s welcome amenity (plus children under 5 eat free). Both packages are valid for travel all the way through March 31, 2022!
Note that the Sayan package has a 3-night minimum stay, while the Jimbaran package has a 5-night minimum stay.
NB: Both properties also have ‘25% off / free cancellation’ offer, however these require travel by 23 December 2020.

Considered one of the most family-friendly resorts in Asia and reputed to have an absolutely fab kids’ club, Holiday Inn Krabi has an offer with massive savings off regular rates and daily breakfast included, plus you can cancel anytime up until one day before the stay date and there’s no deposit required. For instance, we booked sample dates in March 2021 and the nightly rate is THB 3032 (SGD 133).
Ts & Cs: There’s no travel deadline that we could find, but you must book by 31 August 2020.

JW Marriott Khao Lak is a wonderful family beach resort in Khao Lak, near Phuket. There’s a fab pool that stretches all around the resort, a nice kids’ club, and a stunning spa. The resort is currently offering vouchers with up to 50% additional value on what you purchase, and a long travel window stretching all the way from 1 October 2020 through 30 June 2021. Vouchers can be applied toward room rates OR any hotel facilities (including the spa and restaurants), and are available in the following denominations:
- Buy a THB 1,000 voucher, get a total value of THB 1,250
- Buy a THB 3,000 voucher, get a total value of THB 4,050
- Buy a THB 10,000 voucher, get a total value of THB 15,000

Montigo Resorts Nongsa is just 45 minutes away by the Batam Ferry, but there’s no telling when we’ll be able to travel to Indonesia again. No worries! Montigo is selling vouchers for stays in its Studio, 2-Bedroom and 3-Bedroom villas at prices up to 50% off regular rates, with 2 years’ validity! Talk about low-pressure! The only downside we can find is that Singapore long weekends, public holidays and eve of public holidays are excluded, but weekends are otherwise allowed. Prices range from S$199 per night for a Studio to S$800 per night for a 3-bedroom pool villa (sleeps 6 pax). Breakfast is included, too.
We had a ball when we visited this gorgeous resort in Borneo with our kiddos a couple years back. There’s a really cool outdoor adventure playground to go with a nice kids’ club, not to mention a pool with a water slide and the fantastic beach. Best of all, nightly rates are on offer from just SGD 165 per night, including breakfast for two adults and two children, with stays available through 30 June 2021.
Thanyapura is an incredible resort in Phuket that offers seemingly every sport available – from triathlon training to football and aquatics (not to mention all manner of massage, rehab, and nutrition). They’ve got heaps of kids’ camps and activities, too.
For one day only (August 8), from 8am to 8pm, you’ll be able to score 80% off regular rates when you book with promo code FLASH80. The offer is valid for stays through 30 September 2021, and guests are even allowed a one-time date change.
