The Sassy Mama Guide: Top 10 Kitchenware Shops in Singapore

StylePost Category - StyleStyle

Does this sound familiar? You love the idea of eating wholesome, home-cooked meals, but finding the time to prepare them is a constant struggle.

One of my favorite tips for creating healthy meals is to create a kitchen that you enjoy spending time in. You’ll be more willing to bake your own wholemeal muffins when you have everything you need at your fingertips. Luckily for us, Singapore has some great kitchenware shops with tools, fun gadgets, platters and accessories that inspire and motivate us to get back into the kitchen!

Here’s our list of the 10 Best Kitchenware Shops from secret, tucked-away holes in the wall, to sprawling, modern kitchenware boutiques!

1. Lemon Zest
Who ever said a functional kitchen shouldn’t be a beautiful kitchen too? This little shop is a treasure trove for the kitchen lover! Sassy Mama tip: If you’re planning your kiddo’s birthday, definitely checkout this shop for party ideas. The great thing too is that it’s located in Holland Village, where you can spend a whole afternoon walking, shopping and eating. There’s also a supermarket and wet market nearby, so if you are inspired to start cooking right away, you’ll have everything you need!
43 Jalan Merah Saga, Chip Bee Gardens #01-80, Holland Village, Singapore 278115
Tel: (+65) 6471 0566
Opening Hours:
Sunday – Thursday: 10am to 9pm

2. Pantry Magic
This new Bukit Timah branch (they’ve moved from their Chinatown location) is a shop to bring the whole family to! It’s located in Pasar Bella, the new farmer’s market full of shops, fresh food and family atmosphere. Also check out all of the enrichment programs on offer in the same building – that way while your kiddo learns and plays – you can nip down to Pantry Magic where you’ll find the most charming and stylish kitchenware tools!

Pantry Magic has since been taken over by LemonZest and now occupies the space at Pasarbella — woo hoo!
LemonZest @ PasarBella @ The Grandstand, 200 Turf Club Road , Singapore 287994
Tel: (+65) 6467 0977
Opening Hours:
Daily 9:30am to 7:00pm

3. Sia Huat
On this street you’ll find a strip of kitchenware shops that cater to domestic kitchens and restaurant kitchens alike – it’s pretty fun seeing pots big enough to sit in! Basically, any and everything that a kitchen needs in order to function will be found here! This is not a kid-friendly store – there’s too many people, sharp objects and glass – not a good combination if you’re of a nervous disposition. Plan to come alone or with friends.
No. 7, 9 & 11 Temple Street, Singapore 058559
Tel: (+65) 6223 1732
Opening Hours:
Monday – Friday: 8.30am to 6.30pm

4. Kitchen Story
Dressed in pajamas, and from the comfort of your couch, you can shop online for gourmet cookware, bakeware and more. The best part is that they deliver straight to your door, which is great considering just how heavy those cast iron skillets are!

TOTT2

5. TOTT
This is the Ikea of kitchenware shops! A huge warehouse-size store, with everything that you’ve always wanted… and never knew you wanted too! For Saturday morning pancakes, we love their pancake skillets, which create cute little imprints on them! There’s a lot to see and if you visit the shop with your kids, there’s a restaurant with a children’s menu to keep little ones happy! Just make sure not to leave without first going upstairs to Originals to check out some amazing furniture too!
896 Dunearn Road 01-01A, Singapore 589472

6. Howard’s Storage World
If your idea of a good time is creating a well organized pantry, then this is your store! Here you’ll find different systems and containers to help you achieve a pantry worthy of the best interior decorating magazines! They also have great solutions for all the other spaces in your home.

Crate-Barrel

7. Crate & Barrel
Warning: you may need to find inner strength before entering this store  – trust me, the minute you walk in, you’ll want to buy everything! Crate & Barrel has the most beautiful selection – from cookware to serving ware and more! With these pieces, you might actually feel willing to start planning a dinner party…

8. Bake-It-Yourself
Whoever said you can’t have your cake and eat it too? Remember when you bake it yourself – you can always make it healthier. If you want to do more baking, this boutique makes it fun! You’ll find a huge selection of baking tools, sprinkles and toppings that will even make a wholemeal cupcake taste good! Be prepared, if you bring your kids, they will want you to buy everything!
182 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 229853
Tel: (+65) 6100 2253
Opening Hours:
Mondays to Saturdays: 9am – 7pm
Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays

9. Bake-King
This is a good shop to find nuts, quality butters and flours to bake your cakes – plus a range of tins, pans and boxes to store them in! I was happy to find a big bag of hazelnuts at a great price – which I used to make a nut-butter and in my homemade granola! This is probably not a shop your kids will love, but if they get antsy, you can always tempt them with the promise of home-baked cupcakes!
Blk 10 Haig Rd, #01-363/365, Singapore 430010
Tel: (+65) 6742 8388
Opening Hours:
Monday – Saturday: 9am to 9pm

10. Phoon-Huat
A Singapore institution, with several locations around the island – you’ll find everything you need for baking, from ingredients to tools, plus all the fun stuff in between to make it special! Unless your kids enjoy shopping, there’s not much there for them to do. Phoo-Huat is like a grocery store, but for baking. They will however enjoy what you end up making at home!
Several locations, all around the island.

So mama, are you inspired to get back in the kitchen again?

Dear Militza, I am looking for kids kitchen knives (for cutting fruits, veg, etc) without cutting their fingers. Could you recommend a store here that sells kids kitchen friendly utensils that he can use while helping me out in the kitchen? Thank you;-)

    Warm regards,
    Mon

    • Sarah

      Hi Monica,
      Thanks for reading Sassy Mama!
      Here’s Militza’s reply:
“I’ve seen a good selection of kiddie kitchen ware at TOTT (http://www.tottstore.com/) and Lemon Zest (http://www.lemonzestlife.com/sg/). I’m not sure if they have a cutting set – but another idea would be to look in the baking section for a fondant knife. It’s not sharp, but designed to cut and may be a safer option for your little chef! Hope that helps!”
      Cheers,
      Sarah

    Thanks

    • Sarah

      Hi Nicola,
Have you tried LemonZest at Holland Village? I tend to buy all my cake tins from there. If not, ToTT is sure to have what you are after!

    Hi,

I looking for Thermos food jars to send hot food to school. could you please suggest where I can find them.

    Thanks

    • Sarah

      Hi Kanta,
Have you been to ToTT? They might have what you’re looking for. Otherwise I’d head to Isetan kitchenware department, or even Pupsik Studio has some cute kids thermos food jars that you can order online.
      Hope that helps! 🙂

Hi, I am a beginner who wants to try making home made smoke sausages. I have most of the heavy equipment ready (meat grinder, stuffer, bowl cutter, etc) but unable to find small equipment like sausage pricker, dowel, etc). Please help where to find these in Singapore.

Can someone also advise where to find food additives in Singapore (Hydrolized Vegetable Protein, Lactic Acid, etc)?

    Thanks.

  • Grace Wong Mei Yi

Nice article, I bought some items from Howard’s World at The Star Vista basement. Pretty good have lasted over a year, but their items are bit more pricy. I also buy my cheap kitchen items from this online store http://www.shopinsea.com for the rest of my kitchen stuff. Some items buy from store, some online haha.

  • Mary T

thank you for your helpful post! I’ve always wanted to visit these types of shops 🙂
