The internationally renowned North London Collegiate School (Singapore) opens in August 2020 and we’ve got the details on everything from facilities to school fees.
Summer may be approaching, but we bet mamas and kids are currently dreaming of returning to their school campus in the coming months. August 2020 will see the much-anticipated opening of North London Collegiate School (Singapore), an academically ambitious school with a rigorous curriculum based on the UK National Curriculum. The NLCS curriculum provides academic stretch and challenge to all students of all ages, and its “floors but no ceilings” approach ensures that students reach their fullest potential.
The North London Collegiate School Experience
NLCS (Singapore) will seek to provide an exceptional educational experience based on the traditions, ethos and practices of North London Collegiate School (UK). The school’s heritage is impeccable: it was the first school in the UK to offer girls the same educational opportunities as boys; today it consistently performs in the top tier for British exam league tables, and has also been recognised as an IB World School since 2003.
Around 12 years ago, when NLCS (UK) started to explore the idea of opening international school campuses, they made a strong commitment that any school bearing the NLCS name would always deliver an educational experience to meet the same exacting standards that are set in London. Today, NLCS has sister campuses in Dubai and Jeju, South Korea. Just as envisioned, each school has adhered vigorously to the high standards set by NLCS (UK), and NLCS (Singapore) will surely follow suit!
The NLCS (Singapore) Ethos: Ambitious Academics, Pastoral Care & Exceptional Enrichment Opportunities
The NLCS (Singapore) curriculum is fast-paced and challenging, and employs rigorous academic monitoring procedures to ensure that standards are high – and maintained.
Of course, the school recognises that in order to ensure the academic success and wellbeing of every student, it must also place a high value on pastoral care. NLCS (Singapore) aims to create a safe and supportive environment in which every member of the school feels valued, and in which all students can flourish, and where academic performance can be maximised.
The third strand of the ethos is its enrichment programme. NLCS (Singapore) is committed to creating a programme where sporting, performing arts and musical programmes are exemplary.
Furthermore, students play a uniquely important role in shaping the school’s renowned academic societies programme, setting up and leading societies that help to harness and develop student passions across a range of disciplines. From Maths to Philosophy, Music to Law, Medicine to Linguistics, and everything in between, NLCS (Singapore) students have the opportunity to receive a truly extraordinary educational experience.
North London Collegiate School (Singapore) Teaching & Leadership
To ensure that the exacting standards of NLCS (UK) are met from the get-go, NLCS (Singapore) requires equally outstanding teachers. Whenever possible, staff appointed to NLCS (Singapore) are interviewed and trained at NLCS (UK) to establish a thorough understanding of the NLCS ethos. Leading the charge for NLCS (Singapore) will be Founding Principal Paul Friend, who spent the past five years as Principal of NLCS Jeju. Under his leadership, school enrolment grew significantly and delivered excellent academic results year after year – with several students placed at top UK, Ivy League and worldwide universities!
