In the 21^st century, learning need not be confined to the four walls of a classroom. At GIIS students have access to Virtual Classrooms, which will enable them to connect, engage and collaborate with leading educators and lecturers as well as peers from around the world. Each classroom has cameras which give students and teachers the ability to participate in lectures and discussions remotely, as well as record in-class happenings and revisit lectures as they prep for exams and papers.

If your child is passionate about Sport, GIIS is the place to be. GIIS SMART Campus will be one of the first schools in the world to offer SPEDAS (Sports Performance Enhancing Data Analytics System), state-of-the-art technology employed by some NBA teams and other top-level sports leagues to enhance team performance.

How cool is this, mamas: students will wear trackers/tags during games to collect and store data and statistics. SPEDAS allows coaches and trainers to identify a player’s strengths and weaknesses, and points out performance areas and helps with strategy formation skills.

Long renowned for their green initiatives, GIIS is taking things to another level with the SMART Campus, which is designed to make ample use of natural sunlight in both classrooms and common spaces, as well as to account for the flow of natural breezes and fresh air into open areas. The campus has a top-class BCA Green Mark Gold certification. Even the building itself is made from ultra-modern materials, including a corrosion-resistant ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) specially imported from Japan.

A major focus of the GIIS SMART Campus is ensuring water conservation and energy savings. The campus uses four different water sources for its needs: rainwater, NeWater, industrial water and regular drinking water. The building’s ingenious management system centrally controls the lights, aircon, ventilation and water management for the entire campus, and can automatically shut down when not in use. The SMART Campus even has motion sensors to ensure that lights in the corridors and bathrooms are only on when actually in use.

Students are at the heart of the GIIS SMART Campus’s innovative “Nest” design, which emphasises small learning communities to give the large campus a cosier and more intimate feel and create more positive and impactful relationships between teachers and students. The campus also features 21^st century collaborative Learning Commons, Mobile Hotdesking to boost students’ efficiency and productivity, a comfortable student lounge dedicated to creativity and collaboration, and even SMART restrooms!

Further improving the student experience, GIIS SMART Campus features state-of-the-art Digital Wayfinding & Traffic Management. What does this mean? For starters, the entire facility is managed through a new GIIS transport app that allows students to find out the location of their buses via 190+ digital signage systems across the campus, which will direct students to their designated buses in dedicated zones. There’s also a special internal traffic light system that ensures safe and smooth student crossing at zebra lanes, and which controls the movement of buses during arrival and departure timings.
