Back by popular demand, this free family carnival features STEAM activities, carnival rides, live music and more!

This year, the Canadian International School (CIS) STEAM Fair has lined-up even more exciting activities and fun games for the entire family. STEAM is a global interdisciplinary teaching approach that stands for Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship (or Engineering at some institutions), Arts and Mathematics. Bring the whole family and enjoy a fun-filled day of engaging STEAM activities and classic carnival rides at the fair on 22 April!

Outdoor Adventures

Bring your little ones to the amazing Outdoor Discovery Centre, where they can build a giant spiderweb city using twine, create ice sculptures using giant blocks of ice and food colouring, and learn early math skills through water measurement in the mud kitchen. Yes! We know our little Peppa Pig fans would particularly love this mud kitchen!

Soar to new heights

There will be tons of cool things for older kids to do at the fair too. They can try their hand at circuit building; design and build a roller coaster out of cardboard; learn code to control robots, get hands-on with clay modelling; or get crafty with bracelet making. They will also have the opportunity to check out one of the school’s STEAM makerspaces and test some of its state-of-the-art equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters.

All these activities highlight how the five STEAM disciplines can work in harmony, mama. They will give kids the opportunity to make fascinating connections by taking risks, and thinking creatively and critically. These skills are essential for success in the 21st century, mama, no matter what profession our children may choose in the future.

Fun for parents, too

While the kiddos amuse themselves on one of many fun carnival rides, mamas and papas can bop along to live music or take a nibble at the refreshments table. You can also enjoy the Global Bazaar selling everything from unusual gifts to funky clothing and creative accessories. Don’t miss a heavenly foot or shoulder massage from a qualified masseur from the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, too!

Want to learn more? Approach one of the CIS STEAM ambassadors during the event with any questions you may have about their STEAM programme. CIS integrates STEAM into the school’s curriculum from pre-kindergarten to Grade 12, as well as in co-curricular programs such as robotics, coding and LEGO leagues. See you at the fair, mama!
