Now’s your chance to be quick and snap up gorgeous heritage furniture pieces from some of Singapore’s most iconic hotels, mama!
When we heard that the fabulous Hock Siong will be selling all the old furniture fresh from local hotels undergoing refurbishment, I was so excited to grab myself a piece of some amazing colonial history!
Dating back to the 1970s, Hock Siong are a family of Karung Guni (rag and bone) traders who ventured into dealing second-hand furniture, operating equipment and antiquities from local hotels and residential households. They recently got the deal to sell off HUNDREDS of beautiful furniture pieces from iconic local hotels, from mirrors to lamps, beds to luggage racks – how fabulous to own a piece of furniture with such a cool story behind it!
Hock Siong is a “humble jungle” of quality products where customers can find good quality items at reasonable prices. The store is located in an old industrial building at 153 Kampong Ampat. You will be able to find (or hunt) for second-hand tables, chairs, lamps, posters, linen and other knick knacks.
Be quick mama: the new ‘hotel collection’ will be coming in waves all week and it was super busy when I went over the weekend – I bagged myself a chaise longue ($350), a rattan sofa set ($400), a gold mirror ( $110) and a luggage rack ($50).
I was also very tempted by the beautiful lamps ($180) and the vanity mirrors ($60). Also be sure to follow Hock Siong on Instagram – they have a really interesting feed and there is always something tempting on there!
