Foodie mama Fiana shares some of her favourite meals of the past few months; here are some new (and old!) spots to put on your Singapore restaurants radar, mama
We all know Singapore is full of restaurants, from the stellar but humble hawker stall all the way up to celebrity chef fine diners. But what about that middle sweet spot? I’ve been on a dining out spree this last month and now it’s time to fill you in on everything in the in between.
My dining adventures began at the newly-revamped Suntec City, where I had a few interesting meals. Check out the gallery to see my top picks, mama, especially if you’re looking for some family-friendly dining inspo!
Within the Suntec City mall is Olivia & Co., a modern bistro offering an all-day menu that features favourites including milkshakes, superfood juices, salads, burgers and desserts. My favourites here were the tangy Tokyo wings tossed in a sweet teriyaki marinade; the gooey and generous “The Cheeses” Burger; and last but not the least the Snorlax waffles served with berry compote, fresh bananas, peanut sauce, honey and – hold your breath – bacon!
Olivia & Co., 3 Temasek Boulevard, Suntec City Mall (between Towers 1 & 2), #01-481/483, Singapore 038983, Tel: (+65) 6337 2518, www.oliviaandco.com.sg
Upstairs at the Suntec Sky Garden is Dallas Restaurant & Bar. This place has been around a while but I’m telling you mamas, it’s a must-visit if just for the Snapper Fish Tacos, which I would rank amongst the best I’ve tried in Singapore. Ah that combination of crisp batter fried fish, chipotle mayo, honey, pineapple and vinegar – perfection! Dallas also offers sumptuous steaks and meat platters at unbelievable prices. In fact, on weekends guests can enjoy ‘free- flow’ Prime Rib Steak at $35 per head!

Moving down to Boat Quay, I visited the newly launched Panorama Riverside Lounge. Located on the third floor of a shophouse above Pasta Fresca Da Salvatore, this lounge with a spectacular view is a great place to grab a couple of drinks and snacks, especially on a Friday. Yes, Free Flow Fridays at $39++ !! A perfect way to kick-start the weekend amidst a selection of wines, assorted cold cuts, gourmet cheese and savouries such as cheese flans and Italian rice balls. The wine selections change regularly but when I visited, the Lambrusco Sparkling Red Wine was definitely a winner!

Mamas, the next time you find yourselves at Tanglin Mall looking for something a tad different to a salad and sandwich meal Mo’Mor Izakaya by W. Martin may just be your answer! Situated at the Tanglin Post Office building right across the road from the mall, this contemporary Izakaya dishes out some great grills and tapas at affordable prices. My top picks would be the apple cured salmon sashimi, the Australian wagyu on skewers, the slow cooked grilled iberico pork collar and ofcourse the grass fed prime rib. Keeping up with the brunch trend, Mo’Mor has recently launched an indulgent Japanese- European inspired brunch menu. Don’t miss the scrambled eggs served with home smoked salmon, the Mo’mor French Toast with azuki bean paste and of course the buttermilk waffles topped with scotched banana and peanut butter ice cream.
Mo’Mor Izakaya, 56 Tanglin Road, #B1-01, Tanglin Post Office, #B1-01 Singapore 247964, Tel: (+65) 6463 8080, www.momor.com.sg
East-siders: if you’re going to be checking out the fab new Marine Cove playground, consider swinging by Sunrise Bistro & Bar with the kiddos afterwards. I was mighty pleased with my buttermilk pancakes at this spacious, chilled out bistro which even has a bouncy castle and cupcake decoration station to keep the lil ones happy daily during school holidays and of course on weekends! As the saying goes, happy kids equal happy parents…and my little boy sure was pleased with the extensive kids’ menu (S$15++ including a starter such as a soup or chicken Caesar salad, a main and a dessert) and the activities at Sunrise! Oh and pet owners will be happy to know that furry friends are welcome at Sunrise, too.

Until next time mamas, bon appetit!
