A family weekend away at Langham Place hotel, Hong Kong

Didn’t get out of HK this summer? Or perhaps you’ve come and gone on a nice summer holiday abroad and are already run a bit ragged and in need of a recharge? Either way, a mini staycation may be in order.  And while we will admit that Mongkok might not the first place you think of,  the new Little People program at Langham Place has all the makings of a fun family weekend ‘away’ without the headache (and pricetag) of hopping on a plane or even just heading over to Macao.  And right now they’ve got a stellar deal that sweetens the idea even more.

Launched in the Fall,  Langham Place’s Little People program was thought of with not just the kids, but also the parents in mind. On arrival all Little People receive a cute rucksack jammed with oodles of good stuff they can take home a cap, sunglasses, a stationary set and an entertainment book with coloring pages, puzzles, and quizzes, as well as coupons that can be presented to staff for surprise gifts and ice-cream (seriously ingenious).  Kids also get mini robes and slippers to dance around the room in, dine half price at the hotel’s buffet restaurant, and get free access to a vast library of toys to enjoy throughout the stay (also seriously ingenious).

And to make life easier for traveling parents, the hotel carries a range of smart items including strollers, baby baths, booster seats, bottle sterilizers and disaster-averters such as diapers, baby Panadol and baby insect repellent. Yes, they’ve basically thought of everything….

And they’re offering a great deal: book a Trio or Quad Place room and your little ones under 12 stay free. You’ll also receive all the Little People goodies, plus a HK$300 credit to spend at their seriously slick outdoor lounge The Backyard.  All this for what we think is a super price (HK$2,200 for a Trio Place and HK$2,500 for a Quad Place per night).  This offer is good through the end of the year, so if you’re not feeling the need right now just file this little nugget away as it  might prove useful down the road.

Another point to consider: it’s also a great family-friendly option for visiting friends and relatives who come armed with their renegade children who you’d rather not have ransacking your house.
