Looking for the well-rounded curriculum and outstanding academics of an international school but less enthused by the high prices? You’ll have a new option starting next year, mama
Big news on the primary school front, mama! Education leader EtonHouse International Group has hopped on the recent trend in affordable international schools and announced the launch of Middleton International School starting in 2017 (pending approvals)!
Middleton International School will offer an international programme for children aged 7 to 11, with fees capped at $18,000 per year or $1,500 per month. Considering the average monthly fee at international schools in Singapore is $2,400, that’s a pretty sweet deal. The current thinking is that the school will be located in expat-friendly Bukit Timah.
Middleton will follow the UK National Curriculum and the Singapore MOE standards for Maths and Chinese – so you know your kiddos will be getting a truly topnotch education. Planned class size is 28 children, with each classroom equipped with innovative teaching and learning resources and led by highly qualified and experienced primary school teachers.
With both UK and Singapore learning outcomes, the academically rigorous programme will have a particularly strong Chinese-as-a-second-language foundation, but will also incorporate EtonHouse’s integrated and holistic programme along with co-curricular learning. To ensure flexibility financial and otherwise, these programmes will be offered outside school hours and either on or off-campus.
The plan is for students to transition to the new EtonHouse Secondary School once they’ve completed the primary programme; there they’ll have the ability to gain IGCSE qualification.
When you take into account the super-high fees at many international schools along with the recent difficulty expat kids have had in getting into academically rigorous, inexpensive local schools, this seems like a pretty great third option. Add in EtonHouse’s 20+ years of excellence? Colour us intrigued, mamas…
