One of the hallmarks of Chatsworth International School is its welcoming community. Thanks to the Chatsworth Parent Group (CPG), the students and parents can look forward to exciting events and activities all year round.
Ever heard of a school that feels like a home away from home? Chatsworth International School is more than just a place of education. It is a welcoming community of people from around the world that celebrates differences, nurtures strengths and most importantly, treats you like family. This is a school where everyone knows your name.
It is largely due to the Chatsworth Parent Group (CPG) that this school is a close-knit community. From organising highly anticipated events like the food festival on Cultural Celebration Day to parent social clubs, the parent volunteers of the CPG are the true heroes of the community. “Our primary focus is always to make an effort to do something special for the students,” they shared. We chat with the inspiring parents who make the Chatsworth community special.
1. What is the team’s most anticipated event of the school year and why?
That would probably be our annual Cultural Celebration Day (CCD). As an international school with approximately 50 different nationalities, it is one of our most unique events that incorporates everyone from our entire community. There is a parade, beautiful student and parent performances, interactive cultural classroom activities and, of course, a delicious food festival!
2. What are some ways the team keeps the community engaged and involved?
We host monthly coffee mornings for parents, where parents can interact with other parents from across the school and learn about upcoming events. For the first time this year, we have also introduced parent-led social clubs. They range from a walking group to a craft club and even one for sporty dads.
3. What are some big plans/wishes for the CPG’s future?
As an international school, we are always looking to learn from and grow with one another. We look forward to having incoming members with fresh ideas to make the new families feel welcome and excited about getting involved and, hopefully, continuing to support some of the longstanding traditions that have become favourites for the community.
Meet The MVPs of the Chatsworth Parent Group (CPG)
Tiffany, 11 years in the CPG
I wanted to be involved with everything that was happening at school because my children were still very young. But I fell in love with the volunteer work and made so many amazing friends along the way that I have stuck with it for more than a decade.
Nicole, 6 years in the CPG
We were welcomed with open arms and the atmosphere was so joyful and lively that I instantly wanted in!! Being in the CPG allows me to contribute actively and meaningfully to a community that has become a significant part of my family’s village.
Amanda, 2 years in the CPG
When we first joined Chatsworth five years ago, our family was immediately welcomed with open arms. It sounds cliche, but it’s completely true! Being part of the CPG is my way of showing gratitude for the kindness the school showed us when we started and also being able to contribute back to the school community.
Ruth, 5 years in the CPG
I discovered how much I enjoy helping out behind the scenes! There are so many different events that we run throughout the year and we work with so many different staff and fellow parents – it’s always interesting and every year it’s always a little bit different from before.
Elena, 2 years in the CPG
Both my boys started at Chatsworth in 2022 and they immediately felt at home. I had volunteered in our previous school and wanted to contribute as much as I could to this lovely and amazing community as well. My family felt very welcome from the beginning and it was awesome having the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people.
