Calling all buffet lovers! This special Iftar feast has got one of our mamas raving. How do you feel about lobster, mama?

For the second year in a row, Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium is serving up their Iftar buffet for us to enjoy. And what a treat that I had the chance to go with my whole family on the very first Iftar of this year’s Ramadan!

As with most hotel buffets, The Atrium Restaurant on Level 4 of the hotel serves up both local and international fare, from beef rib-eye and gelato, to laksa and iced chendol. Those that are used to breaking their fast with a date, you won’t be disappointed with an entire bowl available at every table. To quench your parched throat, there’s free-flow Iced Bandung and Iced Lime Green Tea.

But the main highlight of this buffet? THE SEAFOOD!

I had a quick look around the room and spotted an abundance of lobster, in particular. Even outdoors, where there were a couple of chefs doing BBQ a la minute, there was more lobster! I employed my usual “buffet strategy” when I started: I always start with seafood first. But then three plates later, I was still having seafood!

There were just that many seafood options. The lobster (did I mention they have lobster?) was extremely succulent & fresh. It’s so easy to overcook them, which is why I didn’t expect the best results, especially when they have to be prepared in bulk for such a large scale affair. At most hotel buffets, lobsters tend to be on the dry side. So I have to say they’ve done really well here. Aside from lobsters, the prawns were very juicy & sweet. And the oysters were ooh la la! Wish I had room to eat more!

It didn’t end with the cold & barbecued seafood. There was also chili crab  although I must add that it doesn’t come close to signature chili crab dishes from some well-known Singaporean seafood chains – and cereal prawns. Besides seafood, the outdoor BBQ station also served up lamb chops, chicken thighs and otah-otah.

I wanted to try so much more, but I really had to stop if I wanted any chance of saving room for dessert. There were plenty of little cakes available, and even a gelato corner, which would have been a hit with my 6-year-old had she been with us that evening. But I went straight for the iced chendol — that’s my thing!

My experience doesn’t even begin to describe what else they had available on the buffet: sashimi, braised lamb stew, seafood paella, chili crayfish, kueh pie tee, gado-gado, a cheese platter – the list goes on and on.

Despite the great response that evening, the staff of the restaurant kept up really well, especially at the BBQ stations where each order was grilled on demand. The hotel also offered prayer rooms for those who wish to use them.

At $90++ per adult (or $100++ on weekends) it’s priced on the high side, but they are running a one-for-one promo here so that pretty much halves it! Plus, if you dine in a group of ten, you’ll receive a complimentary carpark coupon, too!

The Iftar Buffet at Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium is running from now through 2 July 2017.

How much: Sun to Thu: $90++ per adult; Fri to Sat: S$100++ per adult. Child (12 years and under): $25++ per person. Click here to get a one-for-one deal!
