We’re partial to Baker & Cook’s Dempsey location simply because there’s a cute outdoor playground there, but all of the bakery-slash-cafe’s locations serve a mean brunch in Singapore. In addition to the usual brunch plates such as pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, Eggs Benedict and granola bowls across all its outlets, Baker & Cook’s Dempsey also dishes out mains such as the Impossible burger, avocado on toast and bangers and mash. We love that the Dempsey outlet also has picks that the littlies will enjoy. These include Nutella sandwiches, chicken tenders, mini cheeseburgers and fries.

PS.Cafe at Harding Road: Extensive brunch menu

brunch singapore - PS.Cafe at Harding Road

PS.Cafe serves up an extensive brunch menu at all their Singapore locations, but for our money, the loveliest for brunch is the Harding Road outlet in the heart of Dempsey Hill. Dining on the outdoor deck overlooking the huge lawn area is the nicest part about eating here, as well as the dessert (the handmade cakes are their speciality — you’ve been warned!). Be prepared to get there early (no reservations are taken for weekend brunch) and take your time; service staff can be slow, and with no highchairs (booster seats only), it’s best for older kids! We love the sprawling, shady lawn for little kids to run around on, though.

The Dempsey Project: Healthy brunch menu options

Who says you can’t enjoy an indulgent brunch in Singapore and still be healthy? The Dempsey Project takes vegan and vegetarian brunch seriously, and its day menu has more than one vegan/vegetarian brunch plate that’s not a salad. We’re nuts for their Gluten-Free Banana Oat Pancakes, Truffle Mushroom Omelette and the Smashed Avocado on Sweet Potato. Meat lovers don’t have to worry, as there’s still plenty on the menu for you, such as Bacon & Egg Wraps and The Big Dempsey Breakfast, which has English pork sausages, sourdough toast, vine tomatoes and mushrooms.

The Halia: Halal brunch in Botanic Gardens

The Halia is conveniently situated just across from the amazing National Orchid Garden and adjacent to the lovely ginger garden in the Botanics. In fact, halia is the Malay word for ginger, and it’s a prominent ingredient across the halal brunch menu on weekends, which runs the gamut from classics like Smoked Salmon, Grilled Pancakes, pastry baskets, raspberry yoghurt pots and more. The patient staff will happily bring kiddos crayons and child-friendly utensils, and of course, they can always hop right outside to get the wiggles out. And thumbs up for the kids’ menu too, where each main comes with a serving of milk or Ribena.
