Take the kids to Punggol Container Park, for Uncle Ringo funfair rides, archery, dinosaurs, restaurants and more!

Punggol Container Park makes for a fun late afternoon outing on the weekends! When I first headed down I couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard much about it before, despite it having existed since 2016. This cool park is teeming with charming riverside restaurants, is home to the famous Uncle Ringo funfair and has some cool plant nurseries for you and the kids to check out. I recently went there for the second time with the hubby and toddler in tow (keep reading to see why we keep coming back) and lucky for us, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! Be warned though that it is a large open space and on a cloudless day the sun can feel brutal. So pack your sun hats, sunscreen and umbrellas before checking it out!

Things to Do at Punggol Container Park

Uncle Ringo Funfair

On weekends, the Uncle Ringo funfair comes alive at Punggol Container Park. Make sure to head there early because the carnival gets really crowded by 5:30pm! Entry is free, but to get on the rides you’ll first have to purchase an Uncle Ringo Card for $25, or top-up an existing Uncle Ringo Card with any amount.

The carnival consists of two carousel rides, a merry-go-round swing, balloon wheel ride, train ride, pirate ship and a ‘dinosaur and mythical creatures’ park – so there’s plenty for kids to do! Each ride costs from $5/person (price for accompanying adult differs for each ride) so do expect the cost to add up as you go. From my experience, topping up the cards at the cashier as we went on more rides wasn’t too bad and quite quick as long as there weren’t many others in the line.

I went with my almost two-year-old and she could get on most of the rides (accompanied by me of course). We had a great time on the carousel, train ride, balloon wheel ride and the dinosaur park, which has moving life-sized dinosaurs and mythical creatures such as dragons, plus speakers throughout the area playing Jurassic Park-like music and dinosaur roars to make it feel super real!
Uncle Ringo opening hours: Every Wednesday  to Sunday, 5pm to 9pm (last entry 8:30pm)
50 Punggol East (behind Riveria LRT), end of Tebing Lane

Punggol Container Park Restaurants

punggol container park restaurants

There’s plenty of F&B available at Punggol Container Park – over 10 restaurants and vendors, in fact! Some of them are container park restaurants with alfresco dining (we even spotted some ‘rooftop’ container bars) that’ll make you feel like you’re holidaying in Australia. We had a nice afternoon meal at Big Fish Small Fish and got a shaded table where we enjoyed our fish & chips. It does get a little hot at 4pm (which is when most of the restaurants open) but if you’re sitting in the shade you can feel some wind blowing past while eating alfresco.

We love that the strip of Punggol Container Park restaurants is right by Punggol Waterway, so it’s a great spot to soak in some nature and people-watch. Check out the full list of Punggol Container Park restaurants below:

Community Gardens at Punggol Container Park

Punggol Container Park is home to a number of community gardens. This was actually the main reason for our visit – my husband is a huge venus flytrap enthusiast, so we’ve been to SGVenusFlytrap‘s community garden a number of times for our venus flytrap terrarium maintenance and to check out the other carnivorous plants they have on offer. In the area there’s also Littlebotany (pictured above), which is famous for importing (and growing) unique houseplants! Check out all the plant nurseries available at Punggol Container Park:

How to get to Punggol Container Park

By car: There’s plenty of parking so driving is your best bet when getting to Punggol Container Park! As I mentioned earlier it does get pretty crowded by about 5:30pm, so make sure you head down early to beat the crowd.

By public transport: There’s a nearby bus stop with bus services 3, 83 and 85 which you can take from Punggol Temporary Interchange. The nearest LRT is Riviera station.
