Formula 1 SG Grand Prix returns on 2 October!

Ready for more good news in 2022? The Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix is making a grand comeback on 2 October 2022! The red dot has hosted the popular night race 12 times since 2008, and will continue to host for another seven years – right up until 2028. The seven-year extension is the longest one we’ve had to date, and we’re already excited to see who will win this year. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was crowned champ in 2019, which was the last time the F1 Singapore GP was held here. We’re also keeping our fingers crossed for stunning post-race fireworks and star-studded live performances from our favourite music acts!

Guzheng lessons for kids at Heritage Strings & Arts

Keen to get your kids interested in traditional Chinese instruments? If you’ve ever been hypnotised by the beautiful sounds of the guzheng or guqin (which has seven strings), Heritage Strings & Arts at Marina Square offers lessons for kids from 5 years old! They’re currently the only Chinese guzheng and guqin studio located in a shopping mall in Singapore. They have a huge range of guzhengs and guqin on offer in their Chinese traditional-themed studio, with lessons that focus on building a strong foundation in music knowledge and playing techniques, with progression to professional grading and exams. There’s also a Leisure/Contemporary route for students who prefer to learn the guzheng for leisure – classes cover a range of songs from traditional to modern (teachers even take students’ requests on which songs to learn!). One-to-one guzheng and guqin classes are 45 minutes long and 60 minutes for group classes (2-4 pax, only for guzheng lessons). What’s more, you can even check out their authentic Chinese tea collection for sale in the studio, all harvested from the different core production areas of China!

new journals for the new year

Beautifully illustrated journals from GML Gallery

Looking for beautiful new journals for the new year? GML Gallery makes journals and diaries that are encased in original illustrations. Whether you prefer a firm hardcover diary or a soft-covered journal, every art piece has been meticulously produced into a fine-grained textured Vinyl Art paper (for hardcovers) or Grain textured PU (for soft covers) that wrap around each book, including the spine. We’re particularly fond of the Dreamscape collection, which features illustrations inspired by scenes in India, Japan, Amsterdam and more. These journals and diaries also make great gifts!

Find a babysitter ASAP with the Aunty app

Founded by a local mama whose childcare plans fell through when she was expecting her second child, Aunty is a platform that connects parents to a community of babysitters. You can book a sitter up to three months in advance, and if it ends up not working out, you could probably find a reliable sitter on the same day! All of the babysitters on the Aunty app have to be Singaporeans or PRs and at least 18 years old to apply, with experience in working with children, whether they’re former preschool teachers, have previously studied nursing or have had experience working in a paediatric ward. It’s free to download and start an account on Aunty! Just pay the hourly rate displayed on the babysitter’s profile and you’re good to go.
