Singapore Contemporary: Bringing the World of Art to Asia

Calling all art lovers and collectors! The upcoming Singapore Contemporary is a must to see what’s hot in the art world…and to inspire the next generation of little art enthusiasts!

Ready to give your home a fresh start for 2017, mama? Head to the second edition of the Singapore Contemporary art fair happening later this month. Featuring a vibrant collection of artwork – everything from investment-grade art with a strong secondary market, to works by some of the world’s most interesting and promising artists – the fair invites visitors to browse and buy original paintings, limited editions, sculptures and photography. It’s all going down January 19-22 at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre!

And don’t worry about leaving the kids at home, mama: Singapore Contemporary enthusiastically welcomes the next generation of artists (and art lovers!) with its Macey & Sons Kids Art Studio along with its Macey & Sons Kids Art Tours.

The fab folks at Little Artists Art Studio will keep kiddos aged 3 to 11 busy with supervised painting, drawing and other art projects (parents are welcome to join in, too, if they like!). Each child will even receive their own certificate.

Meanwhile, budding connoisseurs can take kid-friendly art tours that will highlight pieces particularly appealing to little ones. Tours are a short and sweet 45 minutes and are geared toward children ages 5 to 11. Just head to the Macey Kids Art Tours counter right inside the main entrance 10 minutes before the hour; tours will happen hourly between noon and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, and at 4pm and 5pm on Friday the 20^th.

Don’t worry, mama, adults can get in on the art tour fun, too! In fact Singapore Contemporary will offer a diverse and enriching series of art tours covering a variety of art-related subjects and geographical regions, all led by experienced docents from the National Gallery and the Singapore Art Museum!

New this year, you’ll find a curated platform dedicated to photography, Photo17 Singapore, that will illustrate the growing importance of photography as an artistic medium and collectible art form. Over 30 artists will be showcased from the realms of documentary, fine art, conceptual and mixed media photography – find out what makes this medium so innovative, mama!

Other highlights include “Latin American Voices”, a special exhibition showcasing more than 20 emerging and established artists from across Latin America that’ll offer Singapore a rare chance to seethe incredible array of stunning work coming out of this truly dynamic region. You can also look forward to daily live painting demonstrations from artists whose works range from the abstract and spiritual to the fantastical and expressive.
